    A couple yes although the tour seems to have been in P2 at Bournemouth for 30 minutes so far. So glad I had a prior commitment this morning and could not steward from Basingstoke as asked.

    I am surprised no mention has been made of the E4 loco at North Tyneside's Stephenson Steam Railway. I understand it is fully operational and powered by a wagon full of batteries close coupled. Not a long line but has a reasonable hill to negotiate.

    From the amount of coal still in tender at Swanage I don't think it was worked very hard at all The work was done by the 47 a bad day for steamer's today plus when the 47 pulled out of Swanage it was dangling a pipe of the front of the 47

    Yes. Assuming we are talking about old-school DC traction motors with resistance starters, torque (tractive effort) is related to the current and voltage is related to the speed. At standstill the motors don't have any back EMF, and starting...
