There also needs to be a governance review to update the M&As, and the five year plan - a good idea - needs to take stock of what is a sensible set of extension goals through an open and honest engagement and options appraisal - last year's mock...

Is any work actually happening on the P2 in Darlington? The first new boiler - originally destined for Tornado before the disastrous change of plan - is now almost 2 years late. Still no sign of the tender frames. And I understand that Ian...

I think the A1SLT realised that whilst it was a good idea in theory, owning your own coaching stock is a massive burden.

Yes you are right as fundraising was (and still should be) front and centre at the A1 Trust. Of course Allatt had the amazing David Elliott as part of his team throughout his period as chairman before they were both sidelined by the current...

What a lovely day for a gala! I remember when they used to have the Branch Line Gala in February. This was much better. I was really looking forward to the GWR invasion of the Bluebell and was not disappointed. I think it was really one of...

Couldn't agree more. Big shout out to the stewards in coach F, made us welcome from the minute we got on and kept us updated throughout on everything that was happening, with good humour and a smile. Some nice little touches, such as providing a...

I agree wholeheartedly. I've put a goodly five-digit sum into 2007 and I really would like to see some real progress with it now - and similarly, the board of the A1SLT (of which I can no longer find a listing of?) have some explaining to do....

I'm not so sure. Mark Allatt struck me as very much an organiser, communicator and fund-raiser - but not an engineering manager. If you look at his website here those are the strengths he plays up to. Hopefully, the A1SLT will learn from this...
