  1. Biermeister liked Meatman's post in the thread Lynton and Barnstaple - Operations and Development.

As I see it yet another low point for the trust concerning its attitude towards members at an AGM, Tony Nicholson standing up and shouting at a member, telling him to 'sit down and shut up' was so very impressive as was Peter Miles comment that...

The hostage situation is at an extremely sensitive stage. Special forces are in place to secure the hall. (sorry - I have this unfortunate knack of seeing the funny side of everything);)

It's moot at this point, @Lineisclear, but it's pretty hard to argue that the fairness obligation extends to creating two sets of ordinary members - which is precisely what has happened. But you do you.....

    >>>The argument would probably be that in the directors’ judgement such a motion was not in the best interests of the company.... Or, to put it another way, it was OK to allow motions to remove two directors, but not to allow a motion to remove...

I personally have little confidence of it appearing. I get that final tweaks are required but the radio silence doesn't help especially given its been 4 months since its first cancelled gala event. I hope to be proved wrong but with a weeks worth...

I'd be delighted to see some progress. What I don't understand with the CFL proposals include, but are not limited to: (i) How much will the CFL extension cost? Is this the best use of limited resources vs say reinstatement south of OSHI (which...

And I suggest that you default to assume that because the law says X that a board can consider no other option. In the case of the motions, the board could say “we can put what we like on the agenda and stuff what the members think because the...

I find this all rather sterile. Just because the law allows people to get away with acting a certain way doesn’t make it right, particularly in the context of the membership body of a heritage railway.

That’s a bit of a straw man argument. No-one is saying that equality should be followed to the detriment of the law. But it should be perfectly possible to act in a lawful manner and also behave equitably. If accepting the motion to dismiss...

Thanks. @H Cloutt - but why? The Board seems to think that they're allowed to discriminate between members. Why is this ok with you?

Quite right and it is up to the board to decide if and when to make that information available to the Public or members.

I took the comment as a quote from a question asked by a member at the AGM where they didn't ;isten to the answer.

Sorry but it tells me that some members have made their minds up and will not listen to the trustees - I realise that some may be frustrated but that is no reason to shout at the trustees.

And sometimes whether due to privilege or commercial reasons things have to be kept confidential and "at board level". I perfectly understand a membership requesting information but sometimes as a company the board may just not be able or it not...
