    Where ?

Didn't say it was a bad idea did I ?

Just posted first thought that came to my mind, it would look a tad strange with blood and custard mk1s tacked on the rear, doesnt mean I would be adverse to it happening,

is that okay with you ??

    Wading in a touch but...

    * I think the 34098 chap's posts have been massively more constructive and WSR friendly of late overall actually...
    * ...but probably a bit harsh to call the HST+Mk3s+Mk1s combination 'stupid' as several other lines have come up with solutions like that to make up for the short formation (think it ran with maroon Mk1s tacked on at Bo'ness didn't it?) and it's been pretty inoffensive and seemed a good pragmatic answer. I generally like weird stuff so no objection to prototype colour Mk3s+blood/custard Mk1s from me
    * Either way, yes please to the prototype HST at the WSR.

Fine by me old shoe, but some of the stuff you post you come across as being very negative. Not saying you have to be happy clappy everything's wonderful, but sometimes lighten up.

It ran with a BR Green 37/9 at Mid Norfolk and a rag tag rake of mk2's and 3's too, there were defo no complaints where I was about it looking 'stupid'

Yes of course, every tour a 70 has done has had a loco inside. Shame as I wondered whether one might appear, suppose piloting another loco the only possibility.

    Thanks

i do agree that load 3 would be a bit tight in terms of capacity and IF you do couple a MK 3 to a MK 1 the connections aint the best the occasions where ive seen it done there was quite a step up/down going from one to the other so there might be a trip hazard there, you COULD ask FGW for a loan of 2 Mk3 and a retro liveryd PC they might like the opportunity of the publicity, but again for me the HST really isnt what would get me to a Gala as i spent all of my youth trying desperately trying to avoid travelling on the things, they are after all just a unit although i do think that the prototype is worthy of being saved, its just not my thing, much rather a loco hauled of any type

the use of a 70 would be novel if nothing else, AFAIK there hasnt being one at a gala, and if you could get Colas to play ball (and lets not forget Colas sent a logo last year) there would be 100% chance of getting a good one as the ones that have worked so far have been green ones

I do agree with you on that, but seeing how many were out for it at the Mid Norfolk, if I were organising an event It's a loco (and set) to think about. Have to say I never thought I'd see the day I was rather chuffed to get my red pen out to underline it, stranger things have happened though.

Doesn't bother me in the slightest what anyone thinks , about anything I post,if people don't like it they don't have to read it.

Yeah there will always be the duff doesnt get enough turns argument, putting it inside a 70 will just upset them more but what can you do,realistically, would a brakevan help, who knows

I don't have a 'perfect sunshine and rainbows' view on everything but I'd certainly like to think My glass is half full rather than half empty

maybe its me but i thought optimistically that we were trying to move away from simple re-runs of Galas that we have already done more than once, ie. wall to wall hydraulics
