Hi Seb, Thanks for the information. I notice the thread title is Autumn Gala and not Autumn Steam Gala. Is there any significance there?
Might it be that further visitors or active participants could be diesel?

It's being advertised on the WSR's website as "Autumn Steam Gala", so I wouldn't imagine they'd hire or utilise diesels on this occasion, unless in the event of a failure amongst the steam fleet nothing else is available.

We certainly intend for it to be a Steam only event. My apologies for the confusion in trying to keep the thread title short.

That's a shame - I was thinking of going to that one. They say advanced ticket sales are down, but I wonder how many people actually buy advance tickets for galas. I don't - can't see the point when you can buy tickets on the day even if they cost a bit more.

Anyway I shall be in Somerset the previous weekend so I'll pop in for a train ride to support the railway and then probably head for the Great Central Gala the following week.

We buy advance tickets - helps prevent things happening like this.
