All (apart from possibly 26007) ex SVR, so nothing to get overexcited about, which is fortunate when 7017,7018(hopefully) and D1010 are the main attractions...

  3. The forthcoming Diesel Gala event is also due to host a 'full blown' WSR beer festival. This will be my first WSR beer festival as a paying customer and I'm looking forward to every minute of it! Friday and Saturday evening trains too.

The reason I'm overexcited is the one that isn't on the list.

Probably some irrelevant corrugated steel junk in a livery for the blind then or a silent shoe box from the freight event and drive a shed days at SVR the week before .
Give me the hydraulics and 26 every time .

    2x 35
    1x52

Is a decent line up without the visiting loco.

There is always a place in my heart for a 20; especially in BR blue, and even more so if there are two. good to see D9526 back on the line.

Yes, Anthony, that's the information I had last week. My informant was very accurate.

    From Facebook

News from WSR Special Events Planning Team.

As a preview to our big "Vintage diesels to the seaside" gala between 8th & 10th June we are having a Western Region in the 70's day on the Thursday (7th June) with additional diesel hauled trains running over and above our advertised steam service for that day.

We plan to operate 2 additional trains in each direction hauled by Western D1010 Western Campaigner and Peak 45041 "Royal Tank Regiment" offering an additional 160 miles of diesel haulage to the long gala weekend. This will hark back to the mid to late 1970's when Peaks and Westerns worked alongside each other on services in and around Devon & Cornwall.

Passengers purchasing a two or three day rover ticket in advance for the gala itself can claim a discount on their ticket for the additional preview day.

Looking ahead, has a date actually been announced for the WSR "Atlantic Coast Express" gala which was originally scheduled for September? All I have gleaned thus far is that it will run in "April 2019". If anyone has any further info on actual dates, that would be most appreciated. I tend to find entries are added to my diary for one thing and another months in advance and I don't want to get booked with other things to the point that I'm unable to attend what sounds like a fantastic event.

    Thanks
