Yeah, so much for the banner at the top of the page proclaiming ‘National Preservation.com. Bringing the heritage community together’.

I don’t think the manager will let it get bad agains now it’s running as everyone has seen what it looks like when the weeds grew out the track and the manager will have a lot to answer for if that happens again. 9351 is a good engine and people will go there again if they know they can go all the way.

I don’t think the problems at the West Somerset are anything to do with this Forum or it’s Moderators, over the past few years the WSR has been more than competent at shooting itself in the foot without stopping to reload.

I would love to have an explanation then of how the eviction of the S&DRT from Washford was in the interests of the WSR and the justification for the description of the S&DRT AS 'cuckoo's in the nest' in the Press Releases

Covered many times in here, moderators are neutral when moderating but don't follow a neutral position on topics or their posts which are in an individual capacity. If they think the WSR shows the wisdom of Solomon and utter probity in all they do, they can say so. They can also say otherwise if they want to and are bound by the same posting rules as the rest of us.

The thing is why do people join the forum? Answer is to discuss various topics and give their opinion.

If you don’t allow a moderator to post as a normal member, you run the risk of not being able to find anyone to do the job as it’s not exactly the most enjoyable aspect of the forum dealing with problems.

so shall we carry on as normal and just ignore the recent history and all that has happened, and pretend all is rosy in Somerset. Sorry but It matters to me . it matters to many and until there is some contrition or change I'll stick to my principles and get my GWR secondary line fix on the many others that happily fill that need .

Really? So everyone should ignore their own opinions and follow what the board like a blind heard of sheep?
Firstly, the board have shown a total lack of interest in any of the complaints and requests for explanations on here so I doubt this comment will make a single bit of difference to them, and secondly...
If the board are so arrogant that they will only take notice of platforms they chose (e.g. the faceach "supporters") then they are foolishly ignoring all other sources of information and opinions (and not just here on NP) which, if they had any sense, they would regularly review to get an overall view of how the WSR appears from the outside.

The recent strife and contentious decisions on the railway have never been satisfactorily explained, not even to the shareholders (whom I consider deserve far better). You cannot just sweep that history under the carpet with one positive event, especially when that event has been primarily organised and staffed by the volunteers.

A look at the Llangollen Railway PLC Administrators' report shows the Llangollen Trust as an unsecured creditor, unlikely to recover more than an insignificant % of the debt. IMV it shows how prudent was the WSRA last year to require security to cover its WSR PLC debt.

It also opens wide open again the question of the relationship between charity and plc in such set-ups, and trustees obligations. Without detailed reading, I wouldn't want to opine on whether the wisdom of the WSRA was matched by naivete on the LTs part, or whether alternatively drawn paperwork gave them greater leeway.

I think we should respect the decision taken [I presume] by the volunteers who do all the hard work beforehand, and who would have been worried that they could have ended up losing the WSRA [the support group] money which has been hard earned previously by others.

Only 6 weeks to go. Can't go in the mean time. I'm wanting to go on 24/7 when 5199 & 7822 are doubling along with the 'Big Al' headboard on the inbound WCRC stock.

That's fine. You have every right to take your business elsewhere. But accusing many other people and organisations of being part of the problem isn't going to improve relationships. It simple hammers in the wedges even further.

I have no particular axe to grind on either side of this discussion (I lost the plot months ago). I'm just suggesting that there are better ways to move things forward or change things.

Until the WSR has the courage to say mea culpa then people will say the remarks you complain of.
