My Grandfather drove on the Southern. He reckoned that steam enginemen and water columns were like dogs and lamp posts - they never went past one without stopping.

Most likely a result of the various cults on the line all having their own agenda and ideas of how the line should be operated. However, despite the unpopularity of the current PLC Board, I believe it is marking out its pitch and sticking firmly to its own agenda - however right or wrong that may seem to some folk.

It's another one of those irregular verbs: I have a friendly chat, you apply pressure, he issues a threatening letter to A.N.Other.

It's not whether it's right or wrong that matters, it's whether it will enable the railway to survive long term.

These are the searching questions that will be answered as part of the wide ranging information session for shareholders at the upcoming AGM, possibly?

...if not drowned out by the squealing of a porcine formation passing over West Somerset at the time....:)

Now now, we have already been told there will not be the capacity for the usual Q&A session at the AGM… Terrible thing technology, isn't it?

The point I was making - or hoping to - is the PLC's approach to things at present. Not how they may or may not turn out to be.

that suggests you have been banned from it ,as I have so I cannot see the group let alone its posts . fake account subterfuge of course is something I would not advocate ;-)

opportunities to acquire a manor do not come around very often so allowing for your misgivings I think it was the right thing to do . In theory a Manor is the ideal engine for the line. I personally would like to see Ryan and the team let loose on its overhaul in time . He has worked wonders on the Barclay plus a rather nice hudswell clarke

I tried to add Richard to it, when I searched his name he didn't come up, I had to scroll through my list to find him. I suspect you're right Martin. As for fake account subterfuge, I couldn't possibly comment... :)

Whilst clearly I hope the erstwhile leader has an enjoyable day out across Somerset , their is an irony that a two mile line is showing the art of the possible and drawing in visitors .

Don’t forget they managed to lose a Manor too - 7820.

As for 7821 - I agree just because it needs a lot of work doesn’t mean it couldn’t be useful once the money has been spent on it.

yes , and in losing 7820 they also lost 3850 . It does remind you of the engines that were once based on the WSR but have found pastures new

I am surprised the WSR hadn't rebuilt the second track on the Barnstaple spur on which to store all the rubbish - well out of site from the travelling public there!

one observation from the friends group is enthusiasm to go weeding seems to be diminishing . Everyone involved in the exercise really does deserve all the appreciation they can be given
