Just be careful not to select the JJP-Thought option :)

I got chucked out of one group just for asking for any non-personal reasons why the proposals put forward were a bad idea...

Another relevant famous saying, apropos @Sidmouth 's post is "Everyone's marching out of step except our Jonny".

It seems as though this thread needs to remain alive if for no other reason than to allow for a reasonable exchange of views and an accurate portrayal of what is going on without an 'filter' of comment at work from any biased source, wherever that may be.

So, with Mods hat on, it's important for everyone at this stage to keep the discussion fair minded and as objective as possible without becoming personal.

I still think (after many years engaging with the heritage voluntary sector as a third party) much of the problems are caused by those who reach the top in voluntary groups coming from a professional background where their word is never questioned, what they say goes and then after a certain time they decide its time to give something back. At which stage the problems start, there seem to be too many chiefs at the WSR fighting over being top dog over many years.

I wouldn’t disagree with that at all, I’m happy to support the boots on the ground so to speak but I think those at the top need a good look in the mirror and maybe at their ego’s.

I quite like the rules of that group - "No negativity towards the railway, staff, board or volunteers".

But the rule before that has a snipe at a individual who is a volunteer and member of a board of one of the railways charities. Bit contradictory?

It’s quite ironic that they have banned you from the friends page but at the same time on the trusts Facebook page there is now a statement from Chris Austin which contains a link to this very thread!

I think that's the group I got banned from rather than the one Martin has been banned from... :)

Think yourself lucky, if it were 50 years ago it would be report to the headmasters office, and you only went there for one reason, well you did at my secondary school. :(

There seem to be many, see Facebook WSR seems to mirror real life WSR with the multiple factions. What’s coming next a war between the various Facebook groups because they cannot agree on a way forward?

And the voice of his post is also very interesting, including reference to the support of the plc of the trustees of the WSSRT in seeking to keep independence. I tend to the view that with friends like those, who would need enemies.

I note that CA writes "....we have a successful track record of delivering what we set out to do, and keeping clear of the politics as far as we can. ..."

It would be nice perhaps if the Plc could say the same.

replying to my own post may seem strange however the thought occured to me that it my experience today may show @rodders154 that if my fairly benign comment is met with a banning can you imagine what is being done to the 14

I bet they are probably happy to just be able to give their time at a railway that isn't run by bruised egos , or if there are ego's they are kept in check, The WSR, has for too long lurched from crisis to crisis, mostly because unsuitable people get too much power, JJP is just the latest , in a long line.
