Given the number of times that it seems to appear, more of a cereal.....

I wonder if the PLC would be so stupid as to remove Ms Whites WSR identity card to try to silence her, the last people that tried that came unstuck

So much, it seems for the future discussions that are/were to be chaired by the PDG.
Not a take over it seems but a change of direction, even if the Members have, apparently, already decided against that course of action?
Is it essential for the WSSRT to be part of the envisaged Bailey ideas for the future of the WSR? Curiously I feel this present move against the Steam Trust could increase support for the PLC. This has all the hallmarks for more internal strife.

Sorry, is this a "Move against the Steam trust"? or is it simply the members stating their views?

I am not sure why it is being described as a 'hostile takeover' the members of the WSSRT are surely able to reject the nominations at the AGM.

It seems unnecessarily emotional, shrill and a weak argument for rejecting the nominees.

Well I've just emailed the PLC Directors, leaving them in no doubt about what this shareholder thinks of their latest antics - and where my money won't be going.

At some point, somebody in Somerset HAS to grow up... Don't they?

Taking this discussion a step further I have always hoped that the passing loops at Leigh Bridge (between Stogumber and Crowcombe) and Kentford (between Washford and Watchet) would be re instated but there has been little interest in doing it and that reflects the lack of ambition which saw the removal of the up relief line into the Minehead bay in Taunton station which could have been kept separate from the main line.

Additionally when is a water tower going to be installed at Williton to avoid the near disasters that were caused by delays and the lack of water capacity on the smaller engines? Before clever people point it out, I know the tower cannot go back to its original location because of newly built housing on what was originally a long garden, but cpould it go on the opposite side of the track possibly?

The consistent lack of ambition is what upsets me most about the WSR and I would go as far to suggest that had the Somerset Council not got involved it probably would never have got off the ground!!

Good of you to suggest this. Just in case the PLC is running short of stupid ideas of its own;)

    A view from an outsider.
I live too far away from the WSR to visit it regularly but as a devout :) GWR enthusiast (see my Avatar) I’ve always had a soft spot for the branch line. However, the soft spot that I currently reserve for the present management is a swamp!
I am a member of the WSSRT and am totally in agreement with Ms White’s proposals.
Hopefully the proposed changes can lead to better things for the WSR, and revoke this nonsense of the eviction of the S&D Railway Trust.

    Thank you.

But can I be clear. These are not ‘my’ proposals. They are the proposals of the fourteen of us.

Fine Robin. Then, rather than just you, I agree with the proposals of the band of fourteen.

That one was started by the person who started the friends group then had a massive strop when people spoke against the wsr and its management , handed the group over and flounced out

The articles set minimum time periods for information to be sent prior to the general meeting. For this reason another (non-WSR) railway body had to reschedule its meeting a few years back when the printer distributed the wrong version of the paperwork. The WSSRT's is 21 clear days with notice required to be given of 'the general nature of the business to be transacted': that may be one reason for rearranging the general meeting (and there may be others!).
