It seems that the US Parent Company, Iowa Pacific has gone belly up as well.

How exactly do the Weardale & Dartmoor lines run, do the operating societies lease them?

Shame for all the staff. Hope Weardale can survive, a favourite railway which seemed to be on the up.

I wonder if the Dartmoor Railway folds it could be incorporated back into the national network?

Who owns the line the Dartmoor Railway runs on? Is it BARS or someone else?

Both Dartmoor and Weardale are owned by BARS.

That would depend on National rail's plans, for the region, they could buy back the track and land, it would possibly could mean scheduled services to Oakhampton ,if GW so wished to run a service and would signal their ambition to remove obstacles to reopen the line, plus the quarry could be another source of ballast for national rail. if it was needed it would possibly be the end for the Dartmouth Railway but the stock could find a home at another site,

Looks like Iowa Pacific stretched itself and has outstanding taxes and Polar Express fees outstanding.
From the Dartmoor Railway Supporters Association https://www.dartmoor-railway-sa.org/news
Presumably hoping a sympathetic millionaire will buy it, or there is a lot of fundraising to do.

A couple of errors here. Okehampton is the correct spelling and the railway is the Dartmoor and not the Dartmouth.

Does seem a bit confusing from the DCrail wiki
If a single buyer for Iowa Pacific can't be found, the administrator might offer the freight and heratige operations as seperate packages?
Doubt if the Department Transport will take on any operations if no buyers?

The 'taxes' thing may turn out to be significant ..... if tax revenue is owed to HMG by the insolvent company.

Looks like taxes owed in the US rather than UK? Not sure how it affects the UK operations?

How ..... or 'if'. Guessing if the UK business is solvent (about which I've no clue), a buyer should be found.

If aspirations to reopen Bere Alston-Tavistock form a sound business case, I find myself wondering whether, with restoration of timetabled services to Okehampton, NR mightn't be sniffing around, with a view to returning the route to the fold. That'd leave about 16 miles of formation in need of restoration to fully reopen the northern route to Plymouth.

    Just a thought .....

NR wont do a thing until they are forced, kicking and screaming to ...
As there are no marginal constituencies on the route and no GE due for a long time, politicians wont feel the need either.

Sadly I think you're right. A NR employee explained to me recently that NR look for reasons to not do things, rather than reasons why it would be good to do them.

So, that's your sole reason for posting on here, to point out my mistakes, no other content ? nothing to add? other people also spelt Okehampton Wrong , but I don't see you pulling them up on it .

Guess GWR/First Group and freight companies would be asking for a subsidy to run full rail services. This would give NR an income to take on the lines? But the current Government is unlikely to give extra subsidies in rural areas
