Nothing to do with the coal!
I have an answer above from JS, thats good enough for me.
For those that knew him, a message on Facebook says that the ashes of Dave Rodgers will be conveyed over Ribblehead on the tour of the 8th. The annual reunion to mark the end of BR steam takes place the same day at the Station Inn, Ribblehead so a chance to raise a glass in Dave's memory.
E tickets arrived for Sunday, motive power 35018 as predicted. Looking forward to a second trip behind her.
Got to leeds city station a good start so far 35018 arrived leeds at 10:36 and we have just arrived in Hellifield 9 mins down at 12pm apart from the wet weather on the Dale's a nice steady run, expecting it to be a fairly slow run up the long drag with wet rails. Ile post my pic later.
Delayed arrival at Leeds due to being held for late running tpe Manchester pic service.
Last glimmer of sunshine at Barkston Ash, on the climb of Micklefield bank. (Bardic removed in PS.)
My pic of 35018 at Carlisle citadel on a very wet Sunday Waverley tour hope everyone filming Photting or travelling today had a good day despite the weather and a big thanks to R.T.C. yet again for a brilliant tour.
There was a bit of rain and a bit of sun at the same time as 35018 returned through Cumwhinton this evening...
British India Line at Cumwhinton
35018 at Gargrave, Selside Shaw and Langwathby .
A fine day out with a fine machine. Conditions dictated a 'let the locomotive find its way' approach up the hill northbound. 11 on. While the speedometer was bouncing around a bit, 35018 seemed to have a no-fuss climb of Ais Gill southbound. While not timing things to the second, by my watch we left Appleby around 18:34, and passed Garsdale at around 19:04. We had a good run to Hellifield, and had a nice high speed sprint into York to arrive around a minute early.
Garforth this evening................
"The Waverley", 08/08/21.
35018 seen at Gargrave, Selside Shaw and Langwathby.
Great to see you out of Hibernation .
Another great day out, weather was variable. Good solid performance from BIL, thanks to wcrc and rtc, glad to be back.
Missed out the stop at Langwathby so passed Tornado near petrill Bridge....
Been a bit preoccupied Steve.
My effort of the return Waverley at Armathwaite yesterday.
Just received E-ticket for Sunday. Looks like it's BIL again, which I'm very happy with.
(I haven't seen her since she was just a hulk in the workshop at Ropley!)
Apparently there was a technical glitch when they sent out the tickets yesterday and some people (including me) didn't receive them, so they've re-sent them.
So if you're expecting one and still haven't received it, I suggest contacting RTC.
35018 is hauling the tour today from York.
12 coaches, consisting of 5 maroons, 2 Pullman cars and 5 maroons. <BJ>
A break in the cloud cover on Micklefield bank illuminates the train but eliminates the exhaust trail that had been evident in the duller background.
