Bit of an obvious statement isn't it since the PSOV logo is in full view and we all know how professional they are.....

Whilst Germany is more draconian with its steam bans (and some are permanent like round Berlin), they do have an array of preserved diesels to pick from on the mainline.

Pity we here in the UK don't have such luxury, we have them all preserved, but not mainline capable.
When diesel subs for steam its a disappointment, but if a pair of 25/6/7/33/35 or a 40/2/4/5/6, 50/2/5 turned up in stead it reduces the blow.

    Wcrc /DRS/Rivera 37/47 really doesn't bring much.

Maybe this is something DCR may bring to the table, when it starts up.

When was the steam ban implemented in Berlin? Perhaps it's a regular summer ban as we ran in and out of Ost station twice with steam in Dec 2011. I assume you mean summer only.

I mean through Berlin... No steam from Zoo to Ost..
    No diesel either now.

Reading the Express news paper today. This hot weather may continue in to August. I wonder if some of the steam tour operators will be able to withstand a steam ban for that length of time?

Given the reliability of Daily Express headlines - especially weather, my first thought when seeing that in Smith's Reading Rooms today was "well, there's some rain on the way".

I seem to recall that in Spring 2012, they banner headlined "Big Freeze until April" about a week before the March spell of weather that was one of the best, warmest and most settled all year!

If the Express are saying that, it'll start raining tomorrow! Did they also ponder whether the sunny weather is all part of a secret plot by the Duke of Edinburgh to divert attention from the effect the hunt for Madeleine Mcann is having on house prices? :)

Brilliant Tom - I think you just about covered every Express headline in living memory - well done!

The only one he missed was that it would all be alright if Diana was still alive...

They'll put a box behind the loco or on the back of the train in situations where that wouldn't normally be needed.

Would you believe it, just posted this, went to the Shakespeare Express thread and Ben tells us he's doing both. But not on the same train. Yet!

I really cannot see any alternative at present on most routes.

And into the week after as well, predictions say it will go on into August.
In a nutshell, July daytime temperatures haven't dropped or won't drop below the high 20's & the night time ones below about 20.
Also not one slightest drop of much needed rain.
    1976 anybody?

Its easily fixed, I phone up Thames Water and tell them to initiate a hosepipe ban, and then it will pee down for the next 40 days and nights.

Now what we need to do, is to stick giant fibreglass sides on the side of the oiler, and call it an extended water tender. Prefer my box on the back thanks.
