If someone booked a table for 2 intent on going single and turned up on the day on a vintage tour by their self would they get turned away by the V.T. stewards or would they still be allowed to board solo?

If they’ve paid for a table for two, then why not?

How could they possibly be turned away?

I really fancy at least one of the Duchess tours and if I have to fork out £198 for 2 tickets then so be it. I'll have to change my modus operandi - rather than going on about 90% of their tours as I used to I'll have to select the very best ones and fork out for them instead. I will leave it until nearer the time before doing anything though. These tours aren't until October and by then the whole country will have been vaccinated so hopefully social distancing will have been relaxed.

Whilst it’s been a real challenge for the team to bring this together, there is some serious optimism and continued hard work to see this happen. Like you mention it’s best to ensure safety and confidence before everyone gets ahead of themselves.

It’d be great to get as much support as possible and I look forward to seeing many of you on board!

It's a nice touch that VT are indicating which steam tours will have a diesel on the rear. Much appreciated!

The tour that's caught my eyes is the 5043 earl of mount edcumbe on the 8 August to Swindon that's if 5043,s overhaul is completed by then that tour would be worth paying £198 fare for. And the tour doing the lickey incline.

There's a trip with 5043 to Swindon on 25th September - I'm not seeing anything on 8th August.

Well it is listed on the VT website as the banker so I assume so.

Sorry was half asleep and misread the post!!! I meant it’s going to Tyseley to act as a banker for the two castles in November so it’s Tyseley bound and that part is correct. As for with the Duchess, no idea but agree with you it says will be a diesel banker on that run.

Don’t read RailAdvent... you get confused easily. Just read Vintage Trains’ website? It’s much easier to understand.

No one needs to read Rail Advent, it just rehashes social media posts.

My mistake 5043 in the morning on the 20th November with 9466 and 7029 with 9466 in the afternoon on the same day by how I've read it on the Vintage trains official website what route is it taking to the Lickey incline if it's going outbound from Tyseley via Snow hill via the G.W.R. jct near Worcester into the midland mainline?

I presume you have read the VT website. I presume you know how you get to Worcester if you go via Snow Hill. And if the trip turns at Worcester, as it says on the website, I presume you know that there is only one route to Bromsgrove.

So exactly what question are you asking?

Just the route description Al it seems like a circular route via Droitwich spa up Bromsgrove and back into Birmingham new street. I'm basically asking because it's my 1st Lickey banker I could be going on if it goes ahead, and im not familiar with the route when excursions have done the Lickey before that's all.

Davo, the line from Worcester to Birmingham splits at Droitwich Spa - one goes left to Kidderminster and onwards to Snow Hill/Moor St, the other meets up with the Cross Country line at Bromsgrove to head to New St. The Lickey Banker trips will head down the Snow Hill line, turn on the triangle here at Worcester, and then head back on the Cross Country line up the Lickey.

@Davo. Didn't realise that you had no map to look at as the route description is pretty clear on the VT site.

So as @bleeder4 says, after Snow Hill the train will head out to Stourbridge via Rowley Regis and down Old Hill bank, on through Kidderminster to Droitwich Spa and Worcester. After turning on the triangle at Worcester the train returns to Droitwich and now forks right to join the main Birmingham line at Stoke Works Junction. Then on through Bromsgrove up the Licky and through New Street turning right at Proof House and St Andrews Junctions to gain the route back into Tyseley via Small Heath.

Hope that helps. The route is circular. Whether the whole train turns at Worcester or just the loco will be down to how it is operated.
