Looks like Diesel hauled Tys to Derby with 6233 on the back presumably and then 6233 from there . Camp hill and down the midland makes sense. Railway Herald also confirm change to the routing

That's my understanding, non stop Derby to Bristol is the ambition so one not to miss.

Non-stop? It's about 140 miles, so unless the 47 is shoving most of the way, there'll be at least one water stop in there somewhere. Not to mention pathing.

Don't Vintage Trains have the GUV for water?

A dismal, wet morning today for an early shot of the Duchess speeding towards Tamworth near Barton. No sound of any work being done from the back.

Ok appalling pic quality, pics taken from inside a Turbo. But pretty sure this was the first time I have been on a train whilst being overtaken by a steam special! Approaching Stapleton Road. 20211030_125858.jpg

My pic of 6233 after arrival at Bristol temple meads reversing her train to the triangle for turning I reckon on the ret journey though up the Lickey hills with 6233 47773 was doing it's worth of assisting up from Bromsgrove I was in coach F 3 coaches away from the diesel and couldent hear much staccato barking from 6233 exhaust beats until the last mile to Barnt green it could be heard staccato barking a bit. Dont know If anyone on nat pres who may have been on the midland Bristolian agrees or disagrees on that point I made about the climb up the Lickey. 20211030_132141.jpg

Didnt seem to be as much noise from the front through Bromsgrove as it charged the bank as I expected and plenty of Sulzer coming from the rear. That said I am grateful for the opportunity to hear a Duchess on the mainline at all so not complaining :)

Reports were that they went over the top at 40, that would tell you all you need to know. I've seen a video and the Duchess was working, obviously, but all half measured up the bank. I'd expect a lot more from her on the Lickey Trips, unless VT or network rail throw in a last minute curve ball, which I'm expecting.

I was one of about three people at Blackwell to watch the Duchess through the fence, which sadly ruins the view. The Duchess was clearly working quite hard but the big noise was from the 47 on the back, as the train went over the summit.

Here's my footage of Duchess of Sutherland yesterday on the Midland Bristolian. I filmed her at Tibberton in the morning and Ashley Down on Filton Bank in the evening. I also filmed Flying Scotsman on the Stratford Flyer which is also in the video. I hope you enjoy it.

Just a few shots from yesterday as the timings were very tight and not ideal for a chase. I'm told the Duchess hit 75 through Ashchurch, good job we were there.

Duchess on 10 was always probably going to need assistance . She seems to have a softer exhaust in comparison to a Castle . I have sound recording from Finstall which I'll try and post
