tornado restricted on routes in the south?

well as she is an A1, she probally will be subject to the same clearance problems as scottsman had in otherwards,, allowed on the main south western main line and the brighton road but not allowed to run in kent , can anyone enlighten me what the problem is with LNER pacifics and running on the canterbury / dover/ ashford route

Further to my message above, a friend of mine went to Conington between Huntingdon and Peterborough to see Tornado and, like me, he was almost caught out by the early running! Fortunately for him, however, the Pacific was held by a red signal where the three track section is reduced to two tracks while a First Capital Connect EMU went by on the fast line.

He was therefore able to take several pictures and he sent some to me. These are also now on my Fotopic site; same link as above, http://ronfisher.fotopic.net/c1099919.html

She made it into Kent (technically) on Saturday night :smt023

I've got a feeling that it is a bridge in the Tonbridge area that is the problem, plus another one in East Kent.

    Regards,

    Dan

Thankyou to you and others. I decided to go for the pan partly to emphasise speed and partly to hide the fact she'd only got a support coach in tow. The light could have been better but at the time she went through, had the sun been fully out it would have been right up her backside, not good lighting conditions at all.

10am but you are adviced to be there by 9:30, but I would be there before that if I was you, am going to Church Fenton myself.

One from Hildenborough to Tonbridge you mean?

So where is the Cathedrals Express for this? I haven't looked at the site in the past week or so, so maybe I should... So is she passed to go down the Kent Coast?

None on uk steam yet, but with it being the royal train they might not make them public.

60163 made it as far south east as Orpington (technically in Kent) on Saturday night as part of a convoluted move to get it to Hither Green depot without passing through Lewisham platform 2!

    Regards,

    Dan

So wIll she most likely be coming south through Church Fenton then? Is it worth going down and standing camera ready on the most westerly platform? From looking at google she would be coming through on the passing line between the western platform and the island platform. Or is there a decent spot near there for a distance shot?

Effectively she could go down either line depending on the route she is taking, if they are sending her round via Castleford then she will go down P1 the East side with the part of the station where there is two lines, however if they are sending her via Micklefield then she will go down the Western side with 3 lines as suggested, your best place is to get on the island platform bridge pretty much at the top as if you go on the very western platform there are several lamposts in the way. This Video shows this spot from about 1:55.
