Tornado

2 have been fitted this year according to my notes

 

Thanks Tom, checking back I discovered that the email had ended up in my junk.

 

5453 and 5487 are in traffic and were previously fitted.
5229, in traffic, was fitted this year.
5478 and 6528 are fitted but not currently in traffic.
5239, 5278, 5419, 99680 not fitted and not in traffic.
9391 in traffic but not fitted (so not in passenger use).
9440 is fitted but has been a demic at Southall for about 15 years.

Vac-braked 5171, 5200, 5216, 5222, 5236, 5237, 5249, 13440, 9104, 9392 all serviceable but unfitted.

 

Well one is better that none I guess!

 

Reasons to be Cheerful ……..

No.1 It’s Yorkshire Day !

No.2 It’s the anniversary of Tornado’s first movements under her own steam ….

I'm somewhere in that crowd. A lot of things has happened since then, some good and others not so good.

And we should all do well to remember that Tornado Anniversary. It was and is a magnificent achievement. IMHO the locomotive is being 'let down' by the present management set up. Come back Mark Allott, sadly we can't have David Elliot back.
Again, IMHO, the loco is fit and it should be out and about earning money, but it seems as though the management couldn't run a social event in a brewery.
The loco is just a huge machine, but it's also a thing of beauty.

You’re assuming it’s the A1 management at fault and not a certain Yorkshire coal merchant throwing a hissy fit. Without knowing the ins and outs of the current situation, it’s not easy to apportion blame.

 

As my father once said of some neighbours, that it was the perfect marriage because it saved two other people from being unhappy!

Not me, I'm not taking sides in the matter.

 

The new V4R has been announced to be ready for delivery in Feb 26, the lad i am buying off, is willing to let it go in October, which is fine by me.
Gives me a 6 month period to get it right, doubt it will be out this year.

Did think about this, as a alternative, but the V4R is the one.

Harking back to a comment made earlier on the thread regarding LSL who wont use Tornado whilst ever certain persons were on the Board; if work were to be had necessary to the sustainability of the Locomotive ( bearing in mind lsl do have 2, soon to be 3, Class 8's and a few class 7's already so its an unlikely scenario) surely these gentleman should move aside or limit their activities to the P2 in order to facilitate that, plus they might have to paint Tornado blue again.
