My comment on a previous page related to the fact that test trains always used to do 10% over anyway if i remember correctly. I think this one can be put to bed anyway.

    From the A1 web-site:-

Britain's new £3m steam locomotive Tornado to appear in own documentary on BBC2

The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust, the registered charity that has built the first new main line steam locomotive in Britain for almost 50 years, today announced that 60163 Tornado will star in a 30 minute TV documentary about her construction to be shown on Christmas Eve. Absolutely Chuffed: The Men Who Built A Steam Engine, which was originally shown on the digital channel BBC4 and attracted one of the chanel's largest ever audiences, is being repeated on BBC2 at 11am on Wednesday 24th December 2008.

Another well taken opportunity to keep the locomotive in the public eye.

Shame its not going to be repeated in the evening like the TimeShift program and the one by Ian Hislop - unless that's going to happen later on, end of january might be a good time!

Its rumours, and the ensuing chat like this that let the forum down.

I take it apologies are on the way to the crew on the day, EWS and the A1 trust.

All of them have carried out the testing procedure to the highest possible standard, idle gossip and rumour do nobody any good.

Perhaps they could have done a revised repeat featuring the ML test runs and painting into green livery?

And there are still no nameplates fitted. A naming ceremony will be yet another good bit of publicity. These Tornado guys certainly have it well organised for maximum coverage =D> =D>

She looks amazing. So will the nameplates be added before her first mainline tours.

Another Tornado article in the Mail, with some interesting news about its naming..

Charles, whose investiture as Prince of Wales came months after the last steam train service was scrapped, has agreed to name – and drive – the Tornado steam engine at a special ceremony next year.
