Don't think EWS maintain the vac brakes on any of their stock anyway.....

The Mk2s are debranded anyway, no virmin logos anywhere!

Although workshop grey does not appeal to my sense of aesthetics an A1 on the main line - and she is an A1 - most certainly does!

Could there be any better place to test her from than York, from where the last A1 ran forty three years ago.

As she stomped away under Holgate Road bridge tonight with twelve and a tin box behind her, she promised some great times to come. This must be the week to say to those who talk us down - "Yes We Can"

If theres anyone on the forum from the A1 support group, can you please next time not start moving the engine about and whistling when I'm in a maths test?!!! \:D/

Joking aside it now acctually feels real, well now its complete! If anyone is in the York area, they appear to be moving it about. Unfortunatly even though I'm only across the river, I can't get anywhere near it till tomorrow so no pictures from me.

    Anyway congrats!

I realise that since there are no passengers then they don't need any lights in the stock, but it's very spooky like that.

I was thinking that too, especially with the loco. in photographic grey. looked very spectral.

Looking at it again I noticed the light low down, surely this should be Blue or Purple to be really bling..

OK I guess it's so the fireman can see the injector outlet....

Speaking of lighting i thought 60163's marker lights on the engine and tender had been converted to LEDs to enable running without separate headlight unit?

Have these yet to be comissioned? or accepted as some part of the examination process.

Clan line very rarely seems to run with a separate headlight unit and usually uses her marker lights these days (or certainly on the photos i have seen).

    Hi

Ian is likely to know who was driving, he did the FTR exam.

The marker lights have been comissioned and were working at the GC, there is also an over flow light. The laugh was that the electrician was going rig it up so that someone could have a key and use it like you do your car. Absolutley stunning exit from York, the thing just roars when its under way. Could be heard for well over mile out of York and beyond.

Dave Court was driver on Tuesday as well. Not sure about Inspector or Fireman - too many people milling about to be certain!

Jim, Dave and Steve are the crew for all three trips.
And can I just say thanks to all of you for your kind words about Tornado. I've not posted anything before but your comments have encouraged me to dip a toe in the water! I feel very honoured and privileged to be involved with such a wonderful project.
