how much of the problem is down to there being only 3 engines available in the south that can be used by DBC at the moment and 2 of those 3 suffered failures i would assume that under normal circumstances there would have been 2 or 3 locos based on SPM for the duration of the torbays .to allow for maintenance, hopefully next year should be better with Nunney and 70000 hopefully being back

Not sure VT would let it out anyway, WCRC are crying out for motive power as it is, I'm sure theyd love a Castle on the Royal Duchy were one available.

Effectively, unless Didcot allow Pendennis out far more than we're expecting when ready.

TBX on 21st August now cancelled due to lack of motive power as Braunton will not be fixed in time. Remaining two tours will be either Braunton or Royal Scot.

A really sad year for tours with such a shortage of locos. Let's hope 2017 is better.

According to RTT, Tornado's move from Stewart's Lane has been cancelled due to a problem with a steam locomotive! Tornado failed?? That would be typical as we booked it at short notice after not travelling on the Diesel Hauled TBX of the 24th July. Hope it's something minor.

If she's ready by Saturday morning, she could tag along with the Duchess as far as Bristol. Then the planners only need to find a path from the Lane to Southall. That would be a sight to behold!

As neither 4079 nor 6023 will be air braked sadly they will not help with the lack of locomotives for DBC to operate that is currently causing the problems down south.

I hear from serious people who know these things that the issue with Tornado is fixed and signed off....no it wasn't another software glitch....and the loco will be on the move to Bristol on Saturday.

Don't know the exact details, but there are some grubby, tired but very relieved people on the train home tonight!

  18. Thanks for that info BrialXL and we look forward to seeing her on the seawall on Sunday!

Excellent. Not only will there be relieved travellers on Sunday but also those hoping to ride with Tornado on the British Pullman next Friday and the UKRT Robin Hood on the Saturday!

Anyone know the LE route? We should be prepping the Castle on Saturday so if the A1 goes past Tyseley, we can give it the normal GWR two-tone 'salute'!

    A bit of a welcome home. ;);)
