Whilst most photographers were probably at the GCR Mrs Britfoamer and I decided to go on a Pacific loco bash. This involved a Saturday trip across the Pennines to York on a soon (?) to be displaced class 185 set and a trip around the Xmas markets. The train was packed, probably due to Northern taking another weekend off, good job we took a reservation for seating.
Sunday saw us flexing the last of this year's member's tickets on the East Lanc's. A round trip in the morning, a nose-bag at Ramsbottom for lunch, and a second round trip to finish the day in the afternoon.
A quick look on RTT showed 6233 had and extended drink at Barrow Hill, about 20 min's down when checking, pulled back to just a 10 min's late arrival at York.
Back at the station for the return trip and all was not well, the ECS did not appear back in the station until 30 min's after the advertised departure time, with 6233 doing the honours. The train finally leaving in charge of 60009 50 min's late in almost full Dark.
Sunday dawned bright , if cold, with 34092 greeting us at Bury with the usual display of tracking cleaning (platform mucking) drain cock action.
