Hi, Have just been browsing Railway Touring Company website. It now looks like 6201 Princess Elizabeth will haul the train in place of 5690 Leander. Rumour of 5690 wintering at the GCR appear to be well founded.
First run of a Royal down the Calder Valley? Unless anyone knows differant!
6233 has done at least one trip east, coming over Copy Pit from Blackburn.
    Regards,
    John.

I'm on it with the Mrs so I'll be on my best behaviour, but hope to get my head out of the window at some stage. I'll look out for you at Edge Hill, Austin.

Yes there is work going on Saturday evening and Sunday morning so 6201 is heading north just before the closure. Probably staying near Preston overnight to meet the stock in the morning.

Ah so! thanks for the info chaps, I assume the ecs is from carnforth so it now makes sense, drag the stock with the engine on the back into liverpool from preston. sorted. Ta muchly.

well I should have scrolled to the bottom of the 'times' page but I still would have wondered why go to preston from crewe when there's a more direct route.

I am just disappointed that they are not taking the usual route through Huddersfield and on to Batley and Leeds.
Never mind, will probably go to Mirfield instead.
Seems ages since I was last out!!

Sorry Bobbler but this is the usual route for the York Yuletide. 5407 did the honours last year but on two trips instead of one. Should be out for this somewhere on the Calder Valley between Summit and Brighouse.
    Regards,
    John.
