Just to put the cat amongst the pigeons. I agree with camraman. Unless you were on the train you are voting for how do you know how good it was?

Was the Up Bristolian the triumph it is claimed? Did 5043 really flatten the S&C?
Do you accept everything you read in the printed or internet media?

Post made with tongue well and truly wedged in cheek.:)

OK my two nominations, 6233 on the Royal Scot to Stirling and 5043 with the Pride of Swindon. Both had that something special, and I'm not willing to split them...

'Help for Heroes', whilst it was a great idea and raised a lot of money owing to everybody supplying their services free, the run itself went very smoothly, and maybe because of that, unremarkable when put alongside others. It was a one off event and as such cannot really be compared with other 'normal' runs. Special award for 'outstanding achievement', yes.....

I only ever went on trips behind 5029 last year. Based on that my votes are:

    1. The Weymouth Seaside Express, 15th August: First Castle to Weymouth since 7029 in 1960-something. A really great day with an excellent climb of Evershot bank with 9 on, the max limit for Castles 'back in the day'. Bring on summer 2011!
    2. The Southern Irishman: Again, another great day where the engine performed flawlessly. Beautiful weather too!
    3. The Cornish Riviera Day 2: Penzance to Paddington in one day with 5029 at the front of the train... Fantastic.

So is any one going to set up the poll for 2010?
Or is everyone as happy as I am at Mike Notley's clean sweep for Tyseley in the latest issue of Steam Railway?
