the latter two seem to have gone to a private site in Cornwall according to the VCT, it hasn't caught up on the former.

But where is this 'private site' if that is indeed where they have gone. It was certainly under negotiation at one time for at least one to join Siphon G 1025 (ADB975832) at Lower Ruddle Wharf http://www.cs.vintagecarriagestrust.org/se/CarriageInfo.asp?Ref=93 but my understanding was that this had not taken place - please correct me if I am wrong.

If they had gone to Lower Ruddle Wharf then surely the VCT would show them there. My fear is, and I have expressed this to the VCT, that someone has presumed that if they really have left the Gwili they must have gone to Lower Ruddle Wharf when that might not be the case.

I think it was mentioned as a holiday park on one of them...

2887 is still at the Gwili. The two Fruit D's 3403 and 92004 did leave for a private site in Cornwall. I think that they were sold to the same person that purchased toad 35380 from us. Where exactly that is I'm not sure.

92004 (and maybe the others) is at the Ruddlemoor Village Green site in Cornwall. See www.cornwallrailwaysociety.org.uk, go to newspage and see the item on Trenance valley, posted 02/03/2014

    Update

It's been a while since I posted an update on the extension, and now that the weather has eased work has recommended. The picture attached shows some track panels which have been removed, looking north with Bronwydd station in sight. At this point it has been necessary to regrade the track due the the minor level crossing (called Pontyfelin) being at a fixed height. When the tamper comes in it is due to raise the track to allow for the correct depth of ballast underneath but if the heights aren't right at this point there will be an unsightly "hump" as the crossing is a fixed height and can't be raised like the rest of the track.

    Regards

    Matt

Champagne moment...TVR28 touches down, and will now go on display with two vintage carriages at Llwyfan Cerrig
Upon arrival it was taken to Llwyfan by Haulwen, two former residents of the Caerphilly Railway Centre re-united.

GWR number 8, a 4 comp 4 wheeler (on original under frame) has also arrived from the South Devon Railway and the plan is to restore to working order, after an agreement reached with owners 813 Fund.

Season starts tomorrow, the sun is shining and it's been a long winter!

    Regards

Well there's still a few finishing touches, need to add buffer beam numbers, GW route indicator spots on the cab, anyone got a safety valve bonnet?!

We'll have to resist the temptation to polish just yet as the paint is still hardening, but we are looking forward to hosting her for the next 6 months.

A couple of pictures from today

    1) a newly restored GWR wagon on display as part of the welsh train
    2) Welsh Guardsman arriving at Llwyfan Cerrig

In other news the DMU trailer car is in the shed for a repaint into green to complete the 3 car set and extension work is presently focused on the 5 panels of track as described above. Hopefully more news to report soon.

    Regards

Well it's been a while since there was a post on this thread, so I'd better bring you up to date with all the goings on...

    On the locomotive front, -

Welsh Guardsman has recently been lined out and is in service

Haulwen is also in service (we recently has a Gwili first- double headed Austerities- photo on facebook for those who are on it)

Olwen's boiler is now back on site with some finishing jobs to be done- the aim is to have her in steam by Christmas- hopefully in GWR green

The Class 03 is due for a repaint later this year (BR green)

TVR28 remains on display, and is proving to be a popular attraction

The DMU Trailer Car is slowly turning from Blue and Grey to Green to complete the 3 car set

The Vintage Carriages are also receiving attention with some of the fiddly jobs being tackled- some pics with TVR28 here-

On the extension front, much earthworks being done on the trackbed about 1/4 mile south of Bronwydd, a ballast delivery is due this week and then 5 track panels can be replaced at this location. Another 5 to do and then the Tamper comes in.....will see if I can get some pictures later this week.

June 7th to 8th is the 1940's Weekend, see www.gwili-railway.co.uk for details

    regards

    Update

Ballast delivery today saw the base ballast laid for the 5 panels mentioned above. The panels should be relaid thus week.

The second photo shows the next 5 panels that need attention. Once these are done then the tamper comes in.

    Regards

    Matt

    Late night update....

So far two panels out of five replaced. (See facebook...) One more delivery of ballast needed before the final three get laid.

Ballast trains planned for 20-23 June to get some depth on the shoulders and after this we are hoping to get a tamping machine in to be run over the extension (1.5 miles laid at moment)

    Regards

    Matt

Most panels now relaid, a bit of cutting to do on the last couple and then we can move onto the next phase!
