No, I guess it means that that's the outline plan at the moment.

There are some changes to locos and routes due to pathing and operational difficulties in the confirmation letter I received today.

Day 2: 60103 Scarborough to York, 35018 York to Carlisle, 45690 + 45699 Carlisle to Edinburgh (now via Beattock).

Day 3: 60009 + 61264 Edinburgh to Inverness (now via Kirkcaldy, Ladybank and Perth).

Day 5: 60009 + 61264 Inverness to Oxenholme ( now via Perth and Carlisle, no Cumbrian Coast).

Day 7: 45699 Grange over Sands to Shrewsbury, 48151 Shrewsbury to Cardiff.

Day 8: 34046 or 60009 Cardiff to Yeovil, Yeovil to Swanage 34046 or 60009 +31806.

Day 9: 34046 or 60009 Swanage to London Victoria ( not Waterloo due to not being able to secure a platform there).

Am looking forward to this not having done one since 2012, but due to other prearranged commitments am only doing the first 5 days.

Day two looks like the standout day for me ! With the inclusion of Double Headed Jubes up Beattock.

Anybody opening a book on the Jubilee pairing actually happening this time after several previously advertised occasions failing to materialise?
    I would lay a side bet on a B1 and a Jubilee

Yes, I'd wan't at least evens on the Jube's ! TBF, they've both been in good form in the last year, so definitely a good chance.

No doubt about their quality just they have been an elusive pairing, one LE move aside so fingers crossed all in place barring any last minute hitches this time.

looks good, its a pity that day 8 isnt 35018 and 31806 the most improvable pairing you could imagine but we can but hope and day 9 sees Bil returning to its home metals

So there must be a good chance of 35018 getting out and about in the next couple of months.

That day 2--- how many WCR steam crews must that require? Very impressive.

I expect they plan to use more but I would suggest if you leave the Jubilees at Carlisle overnight (or even perhaps LE ex Carnforth) you could probably use one crew to take FS to York park it on the NRM and then run BIL to Carlisle (Summer Waverley's are less than 5 hours York to Carlisle). Two Jubilee crews to go Edinburgh also about 5 hours based on previous trips. I understand 12 hours being the maximum crew hours.

Of course James may choose to tell me I am talking nonsense.

Picking up on Martin's point Regardless if the Cardiff to Swanage was No 9 or BIL it would be a long LE move if Braunton is not available.

You can be sure it will not be hired out until fully ready and proven so probably some more trial runs in the offing.

Oh well, i guess we will have to wait for what ever one over overhauled/ restored next, of course there is always the hope that one day we will see an air smoothed MN gracing Southern Metals when that happens, i don't think people will be that interested in 35018 , unless of course , it was an all Bulleid line up on a future GB Tour

Just had an email from RTC offering one-way seats on the opening day with Scotsman, for £305.

"We are sure these will fill very quickly" the email said.

    Yeah. Right.

The same as two tickets for Glyndebourne. You watch, FS out of Kings Cross with no box will sell. There is a market.

Looking forward to the bargain offer for day 2!
