47760 + 46233! arrived Carnforth 2018 with GBV ECS. No idea why Duchess hasn't gone to Crewe as booked. 70013 is at Carnforth.

    Cheers

46233 may have been low on coal. Long run today, and a blustery wind.

Looking at Stephen Thompson's Ais Gill clip, the coal pusher looks to be in use at the summit - there is a plume of steam from the rear of the tender.

Here is my wind blown effort from today:

Thanks to those who commented on the last few days - maybe one more to come tomorrow. The noise of the 5's out of Barrhill was very impressive!

Got to Long Preston and then Hellifield - and no further. If Network Rail maintained their damned property I would not now have a minimum £200 bill, and have had to spend five hours waiting for and travelling home courtesy of the RAC - cause - a suitcase size pothole in Station Road that took out my offside tyres like a knife through butter.

    My favourite company - NOT!

    Re: The Great Britain V - 2012?

Some wonderful images here. But what the Stranraer set only give a sense of is the remarkable loco handling at work over this stretch. On the return (tender first) we stopped for water at Pinmore a mile or so from the summit...near the 1 in 80 section. The 5's 'walked' the train away as if it were level track and blasted over Milepost 4 at just under 30 mph with 400 tons. And it was like that all the way there and back. Remarkable.

    Re: The Great Britain V - 2012?

That stop at Pinmore did strike me as a bit odd, especially, as you say, considering the gradient. Still, glad it seemed to work ok.

I've finally decided to come home after a week away. Hopefully get round to sorting out some fots tomorrow.

    Re: The Great Britain V - 2012?

Busy at Hartford today, first we had a light WCR 47 going south exceeding fast, don't know who was driving but he gave me a long hornz :tongue1: as he shot past, pity but the camera was not running..
Then 70013 a few minutes down but going quite briskly, and finally 46233 having just shut off approaching but still moving well... Video soon.
