Didn't make it to Greenholme today - didn't make it out of bed when I saw the miserable weather on the opposite side of Cumbria. Also, I didn't particularly want to trail all the way across the A66 and then down the M6 if the conditions were going to be miserable at best. I get enough days like that without having to make any special effort when I go to Ravenglass!

Looking forward to all the photos and videos later though!

    Evening all !

Great to get out today and see the magnificent action on Shap, very impressive, 46115 looked right at home in the fells !l

Here are my videos, appollogies for the wind noise, at least it was'nt raining ! Time to invest in a clever mic with a fluffy thing, tried to improvise with some bog roll and insulating tape, with little success !!

    ......and this one's the Scot......................http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mjD_IAHQ5I

Great to catch up Ralph and Neil, cracking brew that, wont sleep for a week !!! And lovely to meet Austin at last !!!!

    Cheers all,

    Matt.

Went to see the two 5s at Gartcosh. At this point they were on time but in top and tail formation with 45407 leading. Quick dash down the M73 & M74 to Bellshill to see 46115 go through also on time. Not a bad week for steam in Scotland.

At last managed to get the compilation finished, Neil at Scotsmans Bridge, then Matt at Scout green then mine from Salterwath. Seemed to be more wind where Neil was but not as bad further up. Apart from that a good day and only a few spots of rain but not even worth putting coats on for..
Good to see you again and also have a drool over Matts' Silver Machine...Could be a song title there somewhere... :-k Hawkwind :-k
Does it go sideways through time Matt, didn't seem to be doing that as we cruised past you on the way home or where you stuck in second gear.....

The Great Britain II in the North West 8 - 9 April 2009

On the afternoon of Wednesday 8 April, RTC's The Great Britain II came into the North West, headed by Bulleid 4-6-2 No 34067 Tangmere. Due to the failure of other engines, this loco was just completing three successive days of haulage: London - Bristol, Penzance - Bristol and Bristol - Preston. The following morning, West Coast Railway Company flagship No 46115 Scots Guardsman made its maiden journey in preservation over Shap and Beattock from Preston to Glasgow. The loco is seen at Preston station, Lancaster station and at Greenholme on the climb to Shap.
