Thanks but we have 'done' Shap in the rain quite often thanks and it does cameras a power of no good. I do not have underwater kit for mine.

And a near gale force southerly wind won't help either!

At least with southerly winds you get some chance with the sound blown towards you, from the north it's a complete waste of time trying to get video worth posting for public viewing.

Swings and roundabouts. With the wind blowing from the South you're battling more wind noise on the mic and the rain will blow righ onto your lens. Oh the joys. Let's just hope for calm serenity and plenty of sun ;)

Not sure calm serenity will be how the sodden and windswept hordes will be feeling David!!
A glimmer of hope though chaps, Accuweathers hour by hour forecast currently has it raining between 10 and 12 and then just cloudy between 12 and 1 so we might at least catch the Scot without getting too much of a soaking. Winds gusting up to 72kph though so triple windgags on the mic. [-o<

Forecasting hourly slots two days in advance, whose whatsit are they trying to pull.
I think it may well be a case of large plastic bag over the camera until they come into view, and mic down at ground level behind a rock.
On second thoughts :-k This might be a chance to sit in the car and try out the cameras remote controller. 8-[

Hmm, I was planning on going to Greenholme to see her - but with those portacabins in the way and prospect of typical Cumbrian weather, I'm having second thoughts. Perhaps I might be a wimp and wait till she stops for water at Penrith - I assume this would be in one of the platforms?

Just gotta wait and see what the weather brings I suppose!

Shouldn't worry too much about the weather forecasts ! The forecast for Southport over the last 2 days has been RAIN - but I've yet to see any during daylight hours. In fairness the dinnertime forecast for tomorrow suggests sunny periods with squally showers UT since the Lakeland Fells create their own weather patterns ( like the S&C ) I use the forecasts more a guidfe than a reality.

Greenholme will be the place to be at on Thursday !

Passing through Preston station on the way to work this AM, it was a somewhat nice surprise to glance out the window and see a pair of 5's waiting to depart north. Cheered up what has already been a pain in the backside of a day!!

Well I could have saved 7 quid yesterday if I had known 34067 was going to Carnforth but at least it didn't have a 37 on the front as it was after Peston, saw the black fives and Scots Guards man at Carnforth today and posted the vids on You Tube. but just been reminded about the 4 37's going up today, never mind, steams the main thing. did you see the two 86's yesterday while the 37 and Tangmre were going north from Preston, they trundled through Preston southbound a bit later. been a good couple of days though, guess I'll have to wait till monday for the 37's.

just realised it still thursday, 37's tomorrow. #-o

    my vids are naff today:-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hycUnj_tjE

I went to Greenholme to see both the fives and Scots Gaurdsman, the pair of fives were a few minutes late out of Tebay and looking great then Scots Gaurdsman was a couple of minutes late but going really well. I will post any photos and video up later including some rather attractive green portakabins #-o I'm sure the Pway lads appreciated them more than the photters though.
Thanks to Ralph for the lift today and nice to see Matt again,

    Neil.
