Does anybody know what the timings are for the free bus service between Caverswall and the colliery?

Also ( this may sound ridiculous ), are you able to walk along the track, as I have seen videos on youtube which show people doing this...is this allowed?

    Cheers,
    Lewis

And was again carrying quality traction today.... At eight pm seen heading West on the M4 at Bristol with a yellow under feed stoker fitted austerity. At a guess is it 3889? Certainly the most interesting part of a three hour trip from North Notts. Are the boys at Blaenavon so impressed with their new toy that they are adding another or is it enroute to Flour Mill?

The restoration of the dubs crane tank is on the verge of completion. On the 7th of July the Jib (crane) was mounted. The following link is an update to progress on the engines progress. The side tanks are now also in place.

Following the plugging of some leaks (some of them in very convenient places... ahem!),

Duebs's tanks are now water tight, steam test tomorrow.

Whiston, meanwhile, reached working pressure this evening, and is looking very much a complete loco.

    Well this is it !.

Nine months work, a first class visitor, a great home fleet and three new boiler certificates in time for the gala. Some work to do yet on Whiston. Loads more to do on Dubs today every effort will be made to enable her to join in. The first moves under wont take place before saturday morning !!.

Should be a great event - in truth this could be our best ever.

Dont miss it - see you there, I am leaving now for a day with a large spanner.

Will be up as soon as I finish work this afternoon. Plenty of polishing on Bellerophon to do later, as always... Can't let the shiny bits tarnish!

Have decided to go to the big airshow at Fairford on Sunday in search of a Vulcan master shot. This all but guarantees a beautiful day weather wise at Foxfield.

Also heading off now to get that crane tank done! In summary, for anyone considering going who doesn't have time to read 27 pages, a few of the usual questions...

"What's the timetable?" - passenger trains depart from Caverswall Road every 45 mins from 1000. Freights also approx every 45 mins from the colliery end.
"How do I get there from Blythe Bridge station?" - Follow the road opposite the Derby bound platform (cross the level crossing if you've come FROM derby) for approx 10 mins, past the T junction, the railway's on the right.
"How do I get to the colliery?" - Free shuttle bus from Caverswall Road. There is limited parking at the colliery - you may get lucky, but the shuttle bus is easier. Please do NOT walk along the line.
"Will Mech Navvies be dirty?" - No.
"Will Duebs be finished?" - Hopefully.

Hopefully that's everything. Have a good weekend everyone!

Do we have any idea of prices for the gala? I take it there are Day Rovers available?
Looking to be a great event!

As I work Saturdays it has the be the Sunday for me and Fairford v Foxfield was a very tough call. If the Vulcan cancels then it will be Foxfield even though I won't get a rebate on my Fairford ticket.

All set to be at Foxfield tomorrow (Saturday). Family and Leighton Buzzard committments has meant that I have visted very few other railways in the last year or so, so I hope it will be a good day out. The only drawback is that I miss the mainline steam on the WCML at the bottom of the road! However watching lots of small engines working hard all day, is better than seeing one large engine pass twice.

I will be wearing a "Leighton Buzzard Railway" polo shirt, so if you see me say hello.

I'm sat on Foxfield bank now and after a bit of drizzle this morning it's starting to brighten up now. No sign of Dubs anywhere and Whiston is in steam but hasn't hauled any trains yet. All the locos look and sound superb as you'd expect.

Whiston has just appeared running down the bank partnering Wimblebury - and the sun has come out!

Not a bad day today to say the least! Mech Navies was superb, got some nice shots during the mini-charter this morning and she sounded cracking on the 18 waggon run last thing, three Austerities wasn't a bad way to round off a day... well done Mr Scragg and friends.

Dubs had a fire in her as I left and Mr Scragg assures me that tommorow will see her in steam and hopefully wandering down to the colliery. If you're thinking about going down tomorrow stop thinking and start packing. Just dissapointed we've got our own railway to run tomorrow :-(
