Iv currently got a ticket booked for the final Fellsman train of 2018 and im also planning to book more trips on-board another set of Fellsman tours in May, June & July. Hoping to have 35018 British India Line on one of these tours as she hasn't worked another railtour since September 2017 so far and im hoping to tick a southern engine off for haulage this year as iv been behind LMS, LNER & GWR motive power on railtours aswell as BR engines but iv not yet been behind a southern engine. http://statesmanrail.com/fellsman.html

Re the Appleby stop. The Fellsman's are advertised as offering a scenic bus tour option to Ullswater from Appleby, so if that information applies to this year, one would think the Appleby stop would be required in both directions even if no water is taken?

So, what do you do on a Tuesday when the Dalesman isn't running? You go to Chapel Lane at Hoghton to watch the Fellsman. Patchy sunshine but with the wind in the east Galatea was almost upon us before we heard her (me and 2 regular vid guys). About RT and working hard up the bank with 11 on. It looked like Mick Kelly driving (fleeting glimpse only). The exhaust beat quickened as the train topped the summit and could be heard for over a minute after disappearing round the curve towards Pleasington. What a good way to start the day.

Thanks Henry. The cloud had only just cleared, so the temperatures were ok for a bit of steam showing.

I was held up on the A1 for almost an hour in a traffic jam caused by a collision between two vans that resulted in a fuel spillage and I'd given up hope of getting there in time and was considering a change of location when the traffic started moving.

I got to Lunds with literally minutes to spare. 6 minutes after I got there I was still making up my mind where to stand when I heard the whistle and I had to make do. The train was early.

Another surprise was when it loomed out of the sun and got close enough to the camera for me to realise the loco was red instead of the black one I was expecting. Galatea-(16)-fbook.jpg

Making a wonderful sight and sound, No. 45699 'Galatea' heads 'The Fellsman' through Langcliffe and onwards to Carlisle with Mick Kelly driving, Frank Chippendale
    firing and Roly Parker guard

    Fellsman 3b.jpg

Thought I would try something different for the return leg of 'The Fellsman' seen here drifting over Batty Moss Viaduct on the approach to Ribblehead Station,
the recent dry spell evident with very little water in Winterscales Beck. Steve Chipperfield driving and Rob Russell firing
