Are my eyes deceiving me or is there a box on the back? With load 11?

Standard arrangement with the Fellsman this year. Something to do with not wanting to lose time on the WCML, apparemtly.

Seems daft that NR are worried about the Fellsman losing time on the WCML as 46115 took 12 over Shap a week or two ago with no can on the rear . Having been on the Fellsman on the 1oth of June we had the 5 working ok but we were pushed over the S&C most of the time so that made no sense at all .

Steve WCRC messed up in quite a few ways, and it looks like they are paying the penalty, which makes sense in the present climate. They are playing by the book now.Hopefully

Very true Henry but that still does not account for why 46115 can run over Shap with 12 on without the box but not on the Fellsman . Also forgot to add that 45699 was allowed to be in front of 70000 on Shap again unassisted so makes no sense !

Steve looks like the goalposts are being shifted all the time until big bro gets complete charge of the situation. Strange tho

Don't know if this is relevant but the morning train is timed to arrive and depart its Blackburn stop between the time the new service to Man Vic via Todmorden arrives and then departs. Time keeping this year has been spot on, in previous years often dropped time on the climb from WCML to Hoghton.

Lovely sunny morning at Chapel Lane, Hoghton. About 3L, Galatea working hard and getting a good push from the diesel. The pair had the train moving at a fair speed, didn't take very long to reach the left hand curve at the end of the straight.

Not many post from this weeks Fellsman, so enclose a couple of iPhone photos to refresh this weekly charter.
A full train, with a diesel on the back, which gave the occasional shove, but Galatea pulled her weight.
At Carlisle the whole train was turned, so anyone in the carriages next to the locomotive had a field day.

First photo of the driver waiting the right away at Appleby, and the second in Carlisle.

Turn that into black and white and then try and date the picture. Some views on the network are almost timeless.

I am sure it was also Gordon Hodgson driving the diesel for a change.
Mick Rawlings was in charge of Galatea on the return.

No Al, I think Dulux only made that type of white gloss paint, as per the gate, from about 2008 onwards. ;)

46115 confirmed. Sounded good climbing Ripley Bank, albeit with a bit of a shove by 47760 on the rear. James
