Hi Folks..can anyone help..I noted it was 6023 doing this trip...now it's TBA stand by on the platform and just hope and pray a steam engine appears around the corner at Paddington,if not hide from the rude remarks that will echo around Brunel's ironwork..I have a couple of pensioner friend that booked these seats at the beginning of the year, and boy are they going to be disappointed if this is 'Off'.Never mind a 'blue' king,so will the air.

Totally agree- at this late stage I wouldnt mind betting it will a boring 66 or 67.

Still a good itinerary and I sincerely hope it is a steam.

34067 or 61306 are the most likely, the later is no longer heading North on the 2/6.
6023 the target date for completion of various works on it was June and then would require test runs, so has been unlikely for some time.

The chance of 6023 doing that tour is like hoping for 6024 to be ready by July for the Torbay season.

You would think that RYTC would have the sense to update people booked on the tour, as I am one of them and travelling down from Scotland to go on it, I wont be too pleased if its a diesel. Whole reason for booking was to ride behind 6023, don't think I will be getting to do that judging by the slow pace of Didcot getting it mainline. It will as others have said previously be out of ticket before they are ready, almost as if they don't want it or anything to run mainline.

Looks like it will be a repeat of Braunton as that didn't get long on the mainline as they pissed about so much and now she's undergoing overhaul.

The RTC website has been updated and it states is to be hauled by 61306.

Must be problems with 34067 again then as 61306 seems to be taking up most of the work round this area! This is now a very tempting trip as it returns up Sapperton. Will 61306 be allowed to go solo I wonder?

Edit; removed comment about discount, it still applies.

It went up Sapperton on an SD trip in March with load of 9 (I think) on its own. Might be OK with 10, but if any more I would expect it would require assistance.

Okay, but it's a bit strange that 34067 was rostered for this trip and then quickly replaced by 61306. Surely they could have operated a longer train with 34067 in charge?

Well I can safely say it's not down to mechanical problems with 34067

Maybe they haven't sold many seats which is why they are using a 61306 so can take less coaches?

Could there be some kind of suspension imposed by those in authority after the Wotton Bassett SPAD. Is the TPWS or AWS up to it considered it is understood to have been tampered with. Otherwise, if Tangmere is fit and ready to go, why substitute a Class 7 locomotive with a Class 5MT??

Previous trip with Mayflower was in the dark on Sapperton, so be good to see the sun shine on her instead.

Seem to be plenty of seats still available according to on-line booking so that may well be the case.

It could be they consider 61306 might attract more last minute bookings . A email went out a week ago advising 34067 and a £10 discount.Perhaps the response was poor.
