    The citadel on 9th November 2019 is it steam hauled Manchester victoria outward and return to Manchester victoria or is it steam as far as Carnforth return anyone on nat pres

    As per website

    we return on the West Coast Main Line which takes us over Shap - the highest point on the line - and past The English Lake District, to Carnforth, where we leave our steam engines behind and return to your home stations with a heritage Diesel engine hauling us

    That's a classic example of purple prose isn't it. OK you can see Kidsty Pike but fortunately the Lancaster and Carlisle didn't take the Dunmail Raise route or even Longsleddale and Mardale.

    It was just i received a advertising email off west coast railways for the citadel 9 November but on the email i got it dident say about the locos coming off Carnforth and diesel hauled to Manchester vic return. Thanks AMP

    Having recently seen a thread about confusion of thread titles, makes perfect sense to resurrect the 13th April Citadel to reference the November run :confused:

    Not so sure about that. It's not been a frequent event in 2019 and in any case, I think the earlier run deserves to stand alone, given the memorial it became.
