I couldn’t see a thread for this. These are the first offerings from Ian Riley in conjunction with WCRC. There are some times on RTT for the first one, I’d hoped that it might have sneaked through Darwen on its way back to Man Vic but alas not. I’m on the 8th, I wonder which pair of 5s will be running.

Indeed! Is it really impossible to get a path an hour later out of Manchester? The only possible virtue of the long wait would be a chance of being let out early if there is an unexpected gap between other trains.

    Edit: Inserted missing word "it".

Well that's decided it for us from down here in South Wales. Shame. Looked good on paper and close to my 70th.

I’ve put the paper hats back in the box and cancelled the cake. We’ll have to find something else to do for an hour and a half in Carnforth loop - it was probably a bit early for cake anyway! PS Happy Birthday!

Never too early for cake!!! - or beer. Back in the day we had a pint at 0615 leaving Euston for Glasgow behind the Duchess, Hamilton that is, as we'd promised Mel Chamberlain if he got a Duchess out of Euston we'd drink it away from the platform!! Those were the days.....and appropriately that one was on St Andrews' Day 1996. Great weekend that.

If the timings on the WCR website are right, the Saturday is an hour quicker than the Thursday and the return over Shap should be completed in the light (to Carnforth). No times for the 10th on RTT yet.

Obviously the diesel needs to take the train into Manc Vic, but will they drop it off at Hellifield ?

Where are the two steam loco's at present, Carnforth or Bury (former I thought), and where are they going at the end of the trip, again Carnforth or Bury?

Bury and Bury I think. Brewery Jct and Thorpes Bridge Jct are the places to look at on RTT.

Thanks, hadn't extended the RTT to look at the ECS movements, as you say the info is there.
