Looks like a great circular tour with Clan Line, departing Paddington and returning to Victoria with both departure and return at very reasonable hours. Considering it will be the back end of November, pretty much the entirety of that tour will take place during daylight hours, affording plenty of time for people like myself who will be getting service trains to / from London.

Epic 17 / 18 hour days are great in the Summer months but during the Autumn and Winter months a sensibly timed trip like this is just the thing.

It's such a fine itinerary that I will be on it. Should be eminently possible to do an out and back from York.

Yes, it is an excellent itinerary with plenty of interest. A good call by UKRT and the MNLPS. Just a pity that it wasn't in the warmer months but as has been said it should be possible to do it all in daylight. And who wants to have half your day trip in the dark?

I hope NR get gauging quickly then, when was the last time a MN went Reading to Guildford.

Good question. It might be as long ago as 2000 although it's the Wokingham to Guildford bit that is rare with a MN.

I know an MN is bigger than a WC/BB, but how much bigger is it - as 34052/34046 did it (in both directions) in November 2016

"different" is sufficient to send NR gauging department into a "computer says no" tailspin.
