Mods, Talking to Bears seems to be widening the scope of this forum by opening topics on diesel tours.

Is this encouraged,or should it be nipped in the bud?

It's a 'What's Going On' thread. But this is a heritage forum so that's the clue. Judging by the 'read' count diesel trips except when they are with a Deltic do seem to be a minority interest on here.

This was queried and resolved some time ago. There is indeed a lot less interest in diesel-hauled trips, but where one is of sufficient interest for someone to start a thread, according to my understanding that belongs here rather than in Diesel & Electric Traction which, like the parallel Steam Traction section, is for threads where the focus is on the locomotive rather than the train. There is of course some overlap.

Personally I have been on five railtours so far this year of which one (29-4-2018 Welsh Borders Explorer) was steam hauled, one (14-4-2018 The Ebor Flyer) was steam hauled but not for very far, one (15-4-2018 The Mayflower) should have been steam hauled but wasn't because of availability and gauging issues, and the other two (10-3-2018 The Valley of the Witch and 12-5-2018 The Worcester Sorcerer) were purely diesel, though the last-mentioned offered a road coach connection to the GWSR.

With some class 66's now over 20 years old some might consider them heritage now!

Even if not the stock certainly is heritage !.
There's no reason to discourage someone from sharing their observations with the forum, you can always just pass it by if it's not of interest to you.
