Hi all

Here is this weeks update. Class 144 Pacer No. 144013 will be making its first public runs in preservation on Saturday 24th September. Rocket will be in steam on Sunday 25th September.

Hi all

Yesterday our Class 08 shunter 08757 ‘Eagle’ returned to the railway, after its successful period of hire at Hams Hall depot. The loco will be in use on our Polar Express trains top n tailing with the steam locomotive. Short video of its return on our Facebook page, which should be open to all.

A quick question: It's a while since I last explored around the line, but is there now a run round loop at Lawley?

Hi Steve, thank you for your nice comment. I really appreciate it.

The run round loop hasn’t been completed at Lawley yet. It’s not really required at the moment with our current operation but will be once we get to Doseley. It’s still a long siding which we are currently working on so that we can move more stock onto it during Polar. When was the last time you visited us?

 

I walked around the area a few years back, but last time I travelled on the line the tip was still being dug out! Unfortunately, although I live close, I'm rarely free to visit on the days the line is open. I shall have to make more of an effort on a Bank Holiday next year.

My first visit on a running day featured 5619 and Ironbridge No 3 both in steam, with passengers travelling in the autocoach. Maybe one day...

Hi all

Andrew Barclay 0-6-0 ST No. 2138 “Swordfish” arrived at the railway today. The plan is to use her on our Polar Express trains starting on 25 November, but I don’t know how long she will be staying with us. With thanks to the loco’s owner and the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre. Photo taken at Spring Village as it was getting dark!

Here is (probably) the final weekly update for 2022, as we are now concentrating 100% on running the Polar Express trains. However the updates will begin again in January 2023.

The problem with the 08 seems to have been resolved, so it will be back on the Polar Express, taking the place of the class 37.
