Given that I am Swanage Gala late turn signalman, we will have to see what can be arranged!:eek::eek:

I always understood that the fireman was killed by a piece of rail coming up through the cab - looking at the picture you can see that it was some piece of rail!

I also understand that the notable driver concerned did himself no favors among his colleagues by turning up for work next day as if nothing had happened. There was a strong suspicion that he was at least in part responsible for his fireman's death.

Could have been PTSD and that would not have been understood at all well back then.

The frames of 34010 Sidmouth currently reside on Bogie Bolster C wagon KDB923235: http://www.ws.vintagecarriagestrust.org/ws/WagonInfo.asp?Ref=10188 which will be moved to Corfe Castle just for the event.
SLL say the frames will move to Herston Works during 2017 - presumably after 34072 257 Squadron leaves to enter service at Swanage.
Other parts of 34010 are currently at various locations including SVR Bridgnorth, SDR Engineering Buckfastleigh, etc.

An off peak day return from Yeovil Pen Mill to Wareham is £14.60 or £9.65 with a railcard.

    Both.
No doubt 34052 (aka 34046) will steam down from Southall.
The other three visitors do not have main line steam tickets so, presumably, will be transported on lorries.
Whether all will arrive facing the same direction I have no idea.
EDIT - Apologies - erroneous number corrected

I hope someone will let the SVR know that their resident battle of Britain has been moonlighting on the mainline...

34046 is running as 34052. 34053 will be as-is, and coming by road. There was talk of it coming by rail with 34027, but that didn't come to pass.

Nick, Just noted your correction. Thank you. Down to mistyping finger trouble I'm afraid. Peter

    'Strictly Bulleid' Sygnets Souvenir Mugs
A limited edition Strictly Bulleid Gala Mug has been produced by the Swanage Railway's youth group - Sygnets.
Mugs will be available to be purchased from the Sygnets stall on Corfe Castle station on Saturday 1st April - along with a few restored LSWR rail chairs and other goodies.
Mugs cost £5 each - on a strictly first come, first served basis so, to state the obvious - When they're gone, they're gone!
All monies raised from the sale of these special mugs will go into the Sygnets' fund and be used to help develop and encourage Sygnets' activities of current and future young volunteers.
