Blimey, that was fast! I imagined the M7 would take a bit longer to make it back from Norfolk!

Thanks for the very helpful reply!

Antell's lorry left Dereham early Monday morning (06:30 ish?) and arrived around 13:00 at Norden unloading area. Fire lit (boiler still hot/warm) and steam raised fairly quickly - but safely - so it could get back to Swanage after a few hours. Easy Peasy:cool:

I still think that's astonishingly quick and efficient, but that's the SR for you...........

I've finally got myself some free time from Saturday to Wednesday, I'd be really grateful for a heads up on loco roster if possible. I fancy a trip to the seaside!

Just to update my previous post, my understanding from our Steam Loco Super' is that it will be 34070 and 30053 tomorrow (Saturday), followed by 34070 and 6695 from Sunday onwards.

Rumpole, I think you need to know that in the lamentable absence of loco info on the SR website, your consistently informative posts here have led to stacks of visits to Swanage this year just from me, family & friends. Several hundred quids worth of business, which could easily have gone to other attractions: stately homes, museums, country parks etc. Many thanks!

I quite agree Rumpoles posts has made me visit Swanage more than I would have done. Thank you.
I seem to remember earlier this year it was suggested that SR was going to include a loco roster on their website, but nothing has happened.

Good afternoon hope all is well in sunny Swanage. Thanks for your information I luckily arrived to see the M7 and Manston in action last Saturday! Does anyone know if the 'U' class will be in service before the gala weekend and what other loco may be in steam midweek??

    Thanks,

    Dave

Sorry for the lack of updates to this thread recently, as I'm sure you'll understand we've all been a tad busy with the build up to the gala! Just to bring the picture up to date, locos in steam this week will be 31806 (this morning; reacquainting a Cornish gent with a Maunsell mogul...) and then 80104 for the rest of the week. 30053 is spare, 34070 is now being prepared for its annual boiler exam, 34028 will stay in steam over the next few days while test out various cones etc to get to the root of a troublesome injector and 6695 is out for some attention to the blowdown valve.

Afraid I won't be able to update the loco roster for the next couple of weeks though, as SWMBO has imposed a railway free holiday on me...little does she know that booking a week in Wales isn't the most likely to be railway free...
