Sounds about right Peter reading the WTT on HOPS, the only timing that seems to have been adjusted is the last round trip of the steam service will run a bit later to allow the charter to clear Norden Gates.

I am surprised no one has mentioned that the Black 5 remained in Swanage yesterday. Was this because of a fault or was it the cause of the fires between Brockenhurst and Bournemouth that caused chaos on the mainline for the rest of the day and it was banned from leaving. The special was further delayed at Bournemouth as someone was taken ill on it.

For reasons that are beyond me, I started a discussion about 31806 on the Mid-Hants thread!

Anyway, I've here now, and have really been enjoying watching that loco on the Swanage webcam, and seeing it on a train of SR green coaches has got me wanting to drive down for a day photting/travelling behind it.

I've checked the Swange timetables today and it's great to see the amount of scheduled steam operations now in action for the summer - which perhaps makes a trip for 31806 possible sooner than I had thought possible.

So, my first question, I think 31806 has been operating the steam loco schedules again from this weekend, so, if I am correct on that, is it likely to be the working steam loco for all of this coming week please? I may not be able to get down this week, but if it is rostered all week, and I do feel up to it, I may try and come down later this week - possibly Thursday or Friday. If not, maybe when it is next rostered as the steam loco in service.

Any help/information etc very gratefully received.

I'm guard all day this coming Friday and the following Wednesday, with all the usual caveats, 31806 is my booked loco according to HOP's. Come and say hello.

An interesting 15 minutes watching the Swanage web cam. 44871, preumably having pushed its support coach into the main plaform, ran round so it was at the far end from the web cam. Pushed out the support coach and then very slowly came back into view, pulling up over the 'inspection pit' or ash dropping area if it is going to drop its fire. As it came to a stop, 31806 came in from Norden, a litle bit late due to the efforts of 44871, and then ran round its train, took water, coupled up and left for Norden.

I had planned to try and fit in a trip to Swanage this week for 31806. I watched that loco leave Swanage on the 10.00 this morning, but I've just watched 33 111 head out of Swanage on the 12.40. All views via the excellent webcam.

Any update on 31806, when available of course, will be much appreciated. Although my options for a visit this week had already reduced before I found out that the M25 is closed again from 21.00 hrs on Friday for the weekend between Junctions 10 and 11.

Any update, I see the Gwili carriage shed has progressed.

from somewhere (here or Swanning around?) the planning had been approved and there was a report there was to be a new contactor appointed? There are now new reports there are skill shortages and prices are rising.
Obliviously the Gwili does not have the trackside space restrictions the SR has.
Hopefully some building might be planned to start in the Autumn?

yes inflation is an issue. The basic price of the Gwili shed rose by 74% compared to a quote received 5 years prior.

Very disappointed to miss Manston on the engineers train yesterday afternoon, (guard training I was told). My afternoon spent sitting in the car whilst my wife had a cataract removed. Not only looked stunning from some images a friend sent, but some rare headcodes in use as well (Hither green Sidings and Feltham via Richmond and Waterloo and Wimbledon Sidings via East Putney on my reckoning.)
