30053's boiler ticket expires at the end of October. I don't think the owners are planning to have it overhauled by January 2018.
Whether it is still OOU on the Branch in January I have no idea - although I believe they want to start work on it as soon as possible.
Enjoy it at weekends while you can.

The rather revealing comments about naturism in this thread have uncovered a hitherto unseen market, which the Swanage Rly is ideally positioned to tackle, with selected services open to all.

If the railway's management could see everything clearly, they could, in turn, persuade the National Trust to shed some inhibitions at sites with serious public exposure, such as Corfe Castle. Now that would be a complete revalation, not just to the Purbeck tourism sector, but the entire population.

Bring the lot into public view, and you could even see coachloads of naturists on the platform as far afield as Dufftown for a Burns Night special.... given just a couple of years.

    Then again....perhaps not!

Any indication how involved No.53's overhaul is expected to be?

Returning to more mundane railway issues the events page for the Transport Festival has times for evening services, some of which are shown as only having 25 seats. I can only assume this is one coach on the bistro service as nothing else that smalls exists to my knowledge.
Anybody confirm or is something "new" about to arrive at Swanage?

Isn't a significant part of it in someone's back garden as you leave Swanage station?

According to the appropriate page on the Swanage Railway website, it will be 30053 and 31806 working the Swanage-Norden steam services while 33012/D6515 and 37518 will be top-and-tailing the TC set on the Wareham services. Last weekend of these if you're planning to travel through by train.
