What's the status of Bulleid brake 4366? With 4365 and 5761 operating I did once presume that 4366 might be next....

It is being discussed (indeed it is referred to in various documents that have landed on my desk in the last week or so), however the current focus is Maunsell TO No.1381 which is currently at Rampart.

I think it is fair to say (without commenting on the contents of those documents) that there is no money currently set aside for what will be an expensive restoration of 4366, so this may not come onto the radar until a source of funding is identified/available.

Is 1381 the one that can run with 6699 in a push-pull set (if restored as such)?

1323 is the original push-pull TO; this one is currently in off-site undercover storage.

Slightly off topic. Enjoyed the recent photo of the Queen Mary Brake Van special in the RM. However was not impressed by the tatty condition of one of the 08
Shunters. If its going to appear in public give it a coat of paint. An original PLM

I'm sure @Rumpole will be delighted to receive your cheque for the repainting...

That will be 08436, which is planned to receive a repaint very shortly (for very shortly, read 'when it is stationary long enough for me to put it in the loco shed'!). And before anyone asks, no the livery hasn't been decided as yet...I have made my suggestion!

    Oliver?
Its irrelevant how much you've contributed in the past - there's only so much money in the pot and not everyone's pet project will get the money it needs. There's always a compromise between money, manpower, time and need.

    Nothing from me, but then;
    1) diesels don't interest me and therefore I don't care what colour they are.
    2) I didn't come onto NP complaining about the loco
    3) I'm not a swanage railway member - my money goes to railways I'm a member of, or projects I'm interested in.
    4) It's unlikely I'll ever visit the swanage railway again so I'm less inclined to contribute to railways I'll never visit.

    Eh?
You challenged me to donate money - I explained why I wouldn't do that for this cause. I can hardly be accused of not being positive every time someone challenges me to donate money!!!
I also explained why your request may not be possible due to finance and resources.

I think your complaint would be better addressed directly to the SR rather than on NP which has no direct link to the SR management.

I'm sure that "other railways" enjoy your positive attitude and encouragement of other enthusiasts.

I do have a positive attitude - I don't believe I have said anything to the contrary...
Just because I don't agree with you on this matter, it doesn't mean that somehow I am a bad, negative, discouraging person.
We're all allowed to have our own opinions and spend our money on what we want.

I have no desire to perpetuate this conversation, so I will not reply to any further comment on the matter.
