Presumably to save Southall sending another diesel (47746 is the only other diesel there i believe) to get it out of Victoria, makes sence in this situation to let 46115 take the ECS straight to Southall WCR but a pain for the passengers especially since now the Hounslow Loops been closed till tomorrow

no need to apologise Peter, I was only reporting what I saw as it came past me. It just struck me that the Compton was doing quite a bit of work so I guessed it must have been something other than a complete failure.

Yeah sounds about right. That is logically the best thing to do. Still good to have the Scot down south for a week or two and two more attempts at some Southern runs!

I hope her performance over Savernake and over the GWR on Saturday will be pure gold! Actually think the Scot is better than 45699 for the job....! :p

Surely if the train terminates at Staines, most passengers will leave it at Woking for an electric dash to Waterloo.....back in London scheduled time !!! Done

If she could scream and shatter Sharnbrook on The Robin Hood in 2014, then i'm sure those at Crofton will enduce the same! ;) And thank you!

Well Jack you were right! On OTT a 5Z96 path is getting ready to run once 1Z96 arrives into Staines, seemed like a marvelous day for the Scot, you never see steam rescue a diesel 'alf the time aye! ;)

Notwithstanding the diesel failure this was posted last night on RTT. Any ideas what the problem was?
"This service was cancelled between Staines and London Victoria due to a problem with the on-board safety systems (MT)."

AWS Fault on the 33, so couldn't tow the train out of Victoria on arrival.

All is explained if you read the thread and put the bits together. The class 33 had an issue with the AWS. Therefore 456115 had to pilot the train tender first for a proportion of the journey back, there was a protracted turn around at Southampton. This put the whole thing over an hour late, passenger return times to Victoria were too late, and probably WCR would be running into crew hours issues. Then of course you have the issue of how to get it out of Victoria with the 33 declared US. So the train was terminated at Staines. most pax departed at Woking for Waterloo.

Sadly the "shattering" of Sharnbrook in 2014 was aided by around 2750hp of class 47. I was on that trip sat at the back next to the diesel so had the dubious "pleasure" of hearing it shoving away for all it was worth.

Looked at RTT this morning - there seemed to be a further delay of over an hour with the ECS from Staines to Southall last night. It finally got back to Southall at 2am! Any ideas as to what happened or were all NP members tucked up their beds by then? I was!

Long day for the poor old support crew.

A shame to hear of the demise of the trip, but good to hear of steam rescuing diesel! As an aside, I have never known a forum to be populated by such a high proportion of illiterate/lazy posts with pre-school standards of spelling/grammar! Is it really so hard to get this at least nearly right? Ranting I know, but, come on...!
