I am surprised nobody has mentioned this (or if they have, I haven't seen it!).

Friday 8th and Saturday 9th October - Severn Valley Railway

Annual Railcar Association Convention "Railcar Reunion"

All services operated by DMU's on Friday and most services operated by DMU on Saturday along with some steam.

    --Vehicles--

+ Gloucester RC&W Single Unit (Class 122) M55006 - The last vehicle to run a passenger service under BR on the SVR line. Visiting from the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, Derbyshire.

+ Derby Lightweight Single Unit M79900 "Iris" - A unique example of one of the earliest forms of first generation DMU's. Also from the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, Derbyshire.

+ Pressed Steel Single Unit (Class 121) 121020 - Unusual in that it is a first generation DMU still in regular passenger operation on the mainline network. Courtesy of Chiltern Railways.

+ British Rail Sprinter (Class 150) 150001 - One of the first 2nd Generation DMUs to be built in the 1980s. Courtesy of London Midland.

    + Wickham PWay Trolleys

    + Derby C&W (Class 108) - Resident on the SVR - 5 cars

    --Fish and Chips Special--

There will be a Fish and Chip special on the Saturday evening comprising of 7 DMU cars.

The timetable doesn't look very inspiring, it's made me think a bit about attending, as it'll be a £25ish train fare, plus a £15 entry fee...hmm...decisions...

The timetable doesn't seem too bad. OK you can't travel in the middle of the night, but thats bed time anyway :p

I think the £25 was for a mainline ticket to get to Kidderminster...

I'd pay good money to see that - lined up in the three platforms at Bewdley perhaps? :)

Would you pay double again if it was compulsory for everyone on the platform to be wearing appropriate clothing; i.e. no shell suits or T shirts?

£25 LBO - KID, £15 for the SVR, I wouldn't buy a timetable at £5, and I've visited the Engine House twice before and I don't think it's changed enough to warrant me visiting again even if it is included! Sadly one I won't be attending anymore as the timetable isn't...exciting enough!

Noted, thanks. I can no longer drive there, so it's £32 and a 7 hour round trip from NLS!

I'd be interested to hear how you think the timetable could be improved, (if DMUs rock your boat) 4 visitors plus the residents for no increase in the standard return fare looks good value to me?

    Thanks

    Patrick

I can't find any fault with the timetable, which looks very varied; just wish I could spend more time there, but the Festiniog gala is the same weekend, demanding some attention with Lyd destined to do some hard work. The timetable, showing what is working on each service, is available for free on the net, so you don't need to pay GBP5 for one. However, I believe that it's rover tickets only at GBP18 on the day; hence my feeling slightly miffed as I only want to make a single Kidderminster - Bridgnorth trip on my public transport way to the Festiniog gala on Saturday!

Being of a certain age, I am greatly helped by Club 55, which will get me from Cornwall as far as Worcester for GBP15 return fare; can't be bad!

Nice photographs. By the way, this is not the first time 55006 has visited the Severn Valley Railway since it closed the line - the vehicle ran as part of the Railcar50 event in 2004. Please try and find time to visit their base!

Probably! We were usually hanging around them keeping an eye, but we certainly had a good (if not slightly exhausting) time!

I was there Friday afternoon - excellent event and well organised. The class 150 Sprinter seemed the most popular visitor. Highley seemed the best spot, as 'Iris' 'parked' there for a while; made good 'old and new' shot from the footbridge there.

The sun came out on the Sunday for the Classic Car day, giving better pictures unfortunately.
