There's a rumour circulating on the SVR forum that this year's gala is to have a tank engine feel after the express locos of the spring event. Anyone got any more information as to potential visitors and/or the planned theme?

Already confirmed are the Ivatt tank from the KWVR (41241) and the N2 from the GCR (1744)

Thanks for that. A loco I would love to see on the SVR would be Met 1 from the Bucks Rly Ctr. This was the loco that got me interested in railways as a toddler! Looking forward to seeing the N2 and I hope the Ivatt tank gets at least 1 turn with 46443, should wake a few people up.... :-D

Giving its current reputation, 46443 is perfectly capable of doing that on its own ;-)

There was a small piece about the Autumn Gala in the latest SVR mag, the 2 locos that you have mentioned were only "soft pencilled". But if they are confirmed then great news. :)

Will there more visiting engines by any chance?

    Jeff

industrials would be good, I'd personally like to see MSC14 painted black again, but I doubt it will happen...
as for standard tanks, we've done that in the past...

I'd love to see a Fairburn take part, along with something like 6695 and 80078. The latter spent a short time at Shrewesbury and would compliment 41241 (ex wellington) nicely and add to local theme. Probably cost too much though and i'm sure that the organisers irons are already warming up in the fires.

Never seen any of the Fairburns so that would be brilliant. Not sure either are available for hire stilll, think the GCR visit was a one off.

No, not sure hiring it would be possible even if the SVR were interested, but be lovely to see and hear it working hard.

We would be happy to consider taking 6695 to the SVR at some point but, to date, no firm request has been received. 80104 (a Cambrian engine for a short while) from Swanage did attend a previous SVR Gala when a gathering of 80xxx tanks was organized.
