    Most of this thread has been about Garratts in general rather than possible Super Garratts. What more can be said about a Super one? It would certainly need a mechanical stoker (unless perhaps on a miniature railway). With the essential feature of no wheels under the firebox, how big a boiler could you fit within the British loading gauge? Within South African or Continental European loading gauges? How much power could such a beast deliver?

    That would make sense, when I think about it, having observed how a tree crowns when it catches fire. The top of the tree can explode-presumably because the oil vaporises as it heats up.
