The chances of it running with 34046 were just about nil anyway, it is a concern if Pathfinder are in trouble due to DBS as they are one of the biggest players in the industry.

Yes, a great shame. Add to those reasons three other mainline tours on the same day and a general shortage of money, and it all comes togther.

At least this means that RTC will have 70000 all to themsleves that day. Both they and Pathfinder were saying she was working for them.

At the moment, there are 5 steam tours being advertised on Sat 8th: Steam Dreams, VSOE, Vintage Trains and 2 x RTC.

I see from UKsteam today that Torbay Express's Poole-Bristol trip on Wed 28th Nov has been cancelled, though the similar tour on Wed 5th Dec with 70000 is still in the programme at the moment. Low bookings? DBS crew issues? Who knows...

TBEL trains are quite expensive. Compare the prices of the TBEL train from Poole to Bath/Bristol to the RYTC train from Weymouth to London. <BJ>

Suspect this is due to low bookings given that it's on a weekday and follows shortly after another RTC tour from Weymouth.

Just looked at UK Steam and see quite a few cancellations for the Christmas period. Steam Dreams seem to have lost two trips to York due to "pathing issues" and TBEL have lost one to "DBS crewing issues". Having read the rant from John Farrow of UK Railtours on another thread it seems that the DBS crewing issues are far from being resolved so I wonder whether any of the other Cathedrals Express trips this Christmas are threatened. Let's hope not!

It's unfair to say John Farrows statement was a rant, it was a factual statement of what was happening, and the problems being caused by the DBS crewing issues.

Just how many tours have been advertised as being 34046??

Quite, and most people will know that JF is not the ranting type. It's a very considered and "factual" account of events to date, and has led to a piece in the latest issue of "RAIL", which can only serve to bring a resolution to the matter you'd have thought.

The issues regarding rostering of DBS crews continues. This time for Pathfinder tours. <BJ>

'The Eidyn Burgh Scot Railtour Excursion' hauled by Deltic D9009. 29th December, 2012. (Postponement)

''Unfortunately, Pathfinder Tours must advise that the date of operation for this excursion has now been put back as DB Schenker, the train operating company, cannot yet confirm that they will be able to provide enough drivers to operate it next month (Saturday 29th December 2012). Therefore, we have decided to change the date of operation to SATURDAY 6th APRIL 2013, which gives DB Schenker ample time to have their revised driver rostering scheme well bedded in''.
