Great job - a very interesting project and well done to all involved.

As an aside, the D&CDR are in the final stages of the restoration of BCDR railmotor 2 (later 72). Unfortunately the Kitson loco section was removed around 90 years ago but it still makes an interesting carriage!

Is this the MR Steam Railmotor that the NRM own, or is there another Railmotor out there?

There's another railmotor being rebuilt but it must be up to the owner(s) to go public.

Can the ex-Egyptian Sentinel at Quainton Road be added to that list? I haven't heard anything about how it is progressing (if it is) recently.

Have just seen some photos from a friend, showing R93 crossing the Dee Bridge on its first test run.

Well done to everyone involved, hopefully not too many problems were encountered and I look forward to seeing it working myself one day.

Leading power bogie overhauled and re-installed in July last year. Power and intermediate cars since separated to release trailing power bogie which to date has been dismantled and is currently being worked on and painted - weather permitting. Both engines removed and now under cover, also the boiler (which appears to be in very good condition) which has been hydraulicced to its original test pressure of 560 psi - WP 335 psi. Further descaling being done and other work under way.

Good to see the photo of 93, I'm looking forward to the charter in a couple of weeks even more now. Also good to hear news of the Egyptian Sentinel, certainly an impressive sight, even sat dead at Quainton.

Absolutely stonking - reading Heritage Railway's article on it last month was an eye opener. The group concerned deserves all the plaudits in the world - fabulous, fabulous work.

And who'd have thought the seats would have have been sourced halfway across the world for it? :) Pure magic this project.

Nothing quite prepared me for the sight of an Autocoach belching steam...

Certainly going to be a fun year at Didcot - first the King and then this beauty coming to life. Its funny how you never realise the little things - like the fact that having the boiler mounted on the bogie, means that every time you go round a bend the firebox door and other controls move in relation to where you are standing! It'll certainly keep the crews on their toes!

Baldric - if you are still around - hows the 72xx coming on?

It is not only curves, as you go over bumps the bogie tilts so the firehole door moves up and down as well as side to side.

Work is progressing, on Saturday the second of the four eccentric straps was machined, the pistons are connected to the crossheads pernamently now and there are several other ongoing tasks. It will be a few years before it is ready as we are doing virtualy all of the work with volunteer labour as well as helping operate at DIdcot and fund-raising.

And the Railcar will be back in action, after a years absence with its newly refurbished interior:)

I look forward to driving the Railcar during the Whitsun weekend, as I have put my name down for driving on the actual launch day :)
