    That is my understanding.

The preview of Heritage Railway Magazine issue 251 states that the trains will hauled by Met 1 and Sarah Siddons topping and tailing. The coaches will be made up of Bluebell's Chesham set, LT Museum's Metropolitan Railway carriage no. 353 and Kent & East Sussex Railway's Metropolitan District Railway carriage no. 100 https://issuu.com/mortons-digital/docs/hr_12022019preview/10

Tickets go on sale 10AM Wednesday

    Info from https://www.ltmuseum.co.uk/whats-on/events-calendar/heritage-vehicles-outings

Steam on the Underground – District 150
Date: Saturday 22 June and Sunday 23 June 2019
Location: Ealing Broadway & High Street Kensington
    Journey times: Journey 1 (11:11–12:33), Journey 2 (13:06–14:33), Journey 3 (15:06–16:33)
Tickets: First class £180, Standard class £150

Join London Transport Museum for the last chance to travel on a heritage steam train through central London to celebrate 150 years of the District line. Steam trains served the District Railway when it first opened to the public between South Kensington and Westminster on Christmas Eve, 1868.

Recreate the experience of being one of the first Londoners to travel underground and let an original steam train transport you into the heart of the Capital between Ealing Broadway and High Street Kensington. Mingle with Victorian characters on Ealing Broadway’s platform, and soak up the atmosphere whilst listening to live music from heritage Victorian brass instruments.

This will be the last time steam trains are expected to travel into central London on the Underground network, due to signalling modernisation that will provide more frequent services and improved reliability on the Circle, District, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines.

Please note that the final timetable will be confirmed shortly

I was all geared up to book one of these trips, but with booking about to open I'm having second thoughts. There's only a very short sub-surface section, from just past West Kensington to High Street Kensington, which was included in the run from Northfields to Moorgate on 2-8-2014 (in connection with the Hammersmith & City 150th). (And as a minor nit-pick, although it is billed as District 150, a good part of the route was originally LSWR.)

My thoughts exactly. Ealing Broadway to Acton Town would be new steam track for me, but I'm not sure I can justify £150 for it. If it had gone straight on at Earls Court rather than turning left I'd be a lot more tempted.

Likewise, that being the section of the Metropolitan District Railway that opened just over 150 years ago, December 1868.

Did the Pannier out of Ealing Broadway back in the 90s but can't for the life of me recall where the destination was,

Thanks. I had a feeling that might have been it but my notes of the event are sadly lacking in detail.

Will give it a miss at that price; indeed, the truncated tunnel section is a bit of a disincentive in any case. Glad I grabbed the opportunity to do H&C 150, which had a fair bit of tunnel mileage.

Being an electric loco, its far more feasible to fit the necessary electronics than in a steam loco. (The Cumbrian ECTS system requires a medium sized filing cabinets worth of space to put all the electronic gear I believe).

That said it will not come cheap as the necessary 'one off' design will have to be funded by TfL - on the mainline NR are duty bound to pay for the design and fitment of the 'first in class' when it comes to ECTS. Each TOC has to then pay for said design to be fitted to all other traction units it uses.

(note when I say 'first in class' that doesn't mean every single different steam loco can demand NR provide a bespoke solution as they are all technically lumped under a single TOPS classification and count as one)

Just seen them go through Ealing Broadway. Surreal sight of varnished wood coaches under the 25kV OHLE, preceded by Class 345 EMU.

    Regards,

LTM Heritage Ops manager Andy Barr gave a talk to the LTM Friends recently about recent operations, well worth a look.
