Unfortunately, at this time of year, it will be rather dark when she goes through Gomshall in the evening.

You forgot Chilworth which is actually the next station after Shalford. Its about a mile into the 3 miles at 1 in 100 up to Shere, and the loco is guaranteed to be working hard. There is normally time to have a good look at the loco at Shalford, then jump in the car and get to Chilworth in plenty of time to see it go past. ( I'm talking in daylight here obviously)

What rolling stock will they be using for these two trains?. As it is a dbs (EWS) operation it is unlikely to be the green train.
TH stock used on the Talisman seems logical

The ECS moves have changed. Layover is now at Battersea Loop not Grove Park. The turning move is via Kensington Olympia. Revised details at www.uksteam.info

Can anyone tell me where Battersea Loop is, please? Is it visible from trains/roads?

EWS (or DBS as they are now known, are going to be seriously stretched on Saturday. They have to cover the following duties:
    0920 Paddington - Yeovil - Paddington TANGMERE
    0940 Waterloo - Southampton - Waterloo TORNADO
1208 Victoria - Guildford - East Croydon - Victoria VSOE CLAN LINE
1857 Victoria - Guildford - East Croydon - Victoria TORNADO
With so few steam men, how can they possibly cover all of this?
I can only imagine they will draft in men from Bristol and Didcot to help out!
For sure there will be a pilotman or two involved along the way!
Bottom line is this. Saturday 14 February is going to be one of the most momentous occassions ever in the South. There will be hundreds of enthusiasts and Jo Public out to see Tornado and dozens of enthusiasts working out how to capture all 3 locos during the day.
    Mouth watering !
    Nick

DBS woulden't of taken it all on if they were not capable of handling it, DBS seem a bit more pro-active than EWS thus far, suppose they could be taking a bigger look at the charter market with the recession hitting freight quite hard ?.

A few years ago when I was involved with freight workings, EWS Bristol didn't sign London terminals to Reading, but Hither Green, Hoo Jn and Eastleigh did. Some HG and most EH drivers also sign the Berks & Hants to Westbury. The only depots who used to sign Salisbury - Yeovil Jn were SWT Salisbury (and perhaps Waterloo) and EWS (now DB(S)) at Eastleigh. I suspect there could be mixed crews with driver, fireman and inspector are all from different depots to give maximum route knowledge.

    Regards, Neil

Perhaps with DB's experience of plandampf operations in Germany, we may expect a positive outlook for steam charters now?

I was a bit surprised to see the Steam Dreams trips are being operated by DBS rather than West Coast. Do DBS have exclusive use of Tornado at the moment?

As discussed elsewhere, it seems at the moment she is only derogated with DBS. though presumably they are aiming to have the paperwork done for 'The Coronation' which is still down for WCRC.

Change of subject, but is anyone planning to be out photographing the two Steam Dreams trips who would be willing to let the Trust have use of an image for marketig purposes? We want to sell copies to passengers to raise funds to pay off Tornado's debts. If so, can you please contact mark.allatt@a1steam.com. Thanks. Mark

Anyone know what stock set is planned to be used ?, if it's a DBS operation that rules out the usual Cathex set which is Vac brake.

Just to say gents, I've got a feeling 35028 and 60163 might be in Battersea yard around the same time tomorrow. That'll make for some good photos!!

My wife (definitely a railway enthusiast) has just asked me "what time is The Terminator going past tomorrow?"

37 minutes allowed for the double track section between Woking and Basingstoke on the down leg. Presume this will be running on the slow line for this 23 1/2 mile stretch then.
